How Did The Civil Rights Movement Impact Society

Have you ever heard of the Civil Rights Movement? The Civil Rights Movement was caused by two major things; discrimination and segregation against the African Americans. The other main cause of the Civil Rights Movement includes violence the causes and effects of the Civil Rights Movement.

How did the civil rights movement change America? In many ways it did. It allowed schools to be segregated by many protests and demonstrations. For example, the greensboro boys sit ins ,and also Rosa Parks sitting on the bus refusing to move so a white person could sit down. By the stands they took they have revolutionized America.

Civil disobedience has been an act practiced by free societies across the globe. It has been a highly controversial topic in the Unites States over the years, as some believe the so-called "peaceful resistance" exemplifies too much defiance to the government. However, most believe that performing civil disobedience exercises many rights incorporated in the Constitution. Civil disobedience positively impacts a free society by allowing its citizens to express their opinions in a matter which draws the attention of the government, and heightens public awareness.

When our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, they set out to create a Democratic nation where everyone would be able to voice his or her own opinions and push for favorable reforms. This radical idea was challenged by the mightiest army in the world over a series of two wars, but prevailed through endless sacrifice by our nation's earliest patriots. Since, the freedom of speech has morphed into a central pillar for Democracy. Without it, most of the population would not be able to vote, gay rights would not exist, and the American Dream would never be fulfilled. Their courage in standing up to injustices of the society they were mired within fundamentally affected their community and country in the best possible way.

What if the color of your skin determined if you could reach your goals or not. The Civil Rights movement has changed the world a lot. It has changed both African Americans and Whites lives. Including some of the beliefs that have been picked up about African Americans. An example of these would be how white people thought African Americans were born to be slaves, or paid less for the same amount of work. And even to be Shipped away from their families like their lives are useless.

The civil rights movement was all of these words scary, happy, frightful, racism, hope, and change. Change is what I believe the most important part of the civil rights movement. African-Americans had to fight day and night to eventually be free and normal. But it was not just like that. When people fought they fought physically and verbally. Martin Luther King Jr. fought verbally. In his speech “I Have A Dream . . .” he powerfully wrote and said that America has not changed.

Despite the incredible livelihood that a utopian society would embody, it is impossible to fully achieve. However, many take it upon themselves to combat the injustices in society with the use of many methods, including peaceful protest. It is clearly evident that peaceful resistance to injustices positively impacts free societies because of its constructive and inspirational nature.

The Civil Rights Movement is the movement for equal rights for African-Americans. Throughout the years, people have used their first amendment right the speak freely and to protest. This has lead to change in America. That’s what citizenship is about, when you feel like something should be changed you can do something about. We’ve seen it happen in the past, when people want change, they will either express their opinion by voting for it on the ballot or do something larger than that like protesting and forming a movement. When people form a movement and recruit enough people for their cause, it can raise the attention of the higher levels of power. They were still treated differently by white people. By 1870, African American men were able to vote but they still weren’t quite able to, they would get threatened with violence.

Civil rights has to be up for debate on many levels unless we go to the simplest form of discussion, you can do is you want as long as it does not interfere with anybody else's right to do what they want. Is it my civil right to use drugs anyway I wish? I'm not hurting anyone else Is it my civil right to smoke in my car with my child in the backseat, will my child get cancer because of me?
