How Did The French Revolution Change Frances Form Of Government?

Just about any country that one can name has some history of civil unrest, class issues, rioting in the streets, and outright warfare. These patterns of behavior are common denominators for most civilization in the world. The names, faces, and places may change, but the motivations are generally the same, because of the need for change and the willingness to do whatever is necessary to achieve it. In contrast to the United States, which was in the process of freeing itself from British colonial rule, France was working to free itself from royal absolutism. This period is historically known as the French Revolution. Many scholars do not agree on the chronology of the French Revolution; some scholars suggest that the Revolution took place between 1789 to 1799 while others feel that it did not end until Napoleon lost power in 1815. To better understand the history of the French Revolution it is necessary to discuss the causes, major events, significant figures, and the outcomes associated with these political developments. Without this uprising, that changed the face of the entire country and influenced local political life in many countries in Europe, in all likelihood the France we know today would never have existed.

The national assembly lasted from June 13, 1789 to July 9, 1789. So the National Assembly was created when the french revolution started. It was formed by the representatives of the third estate. But in 1791 it was then called the National Constituent Assembly.But the Tennis Court Oath is where the members of the French Estates General for the third estate(common people) vowed to not separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established.

The French Revolution is often seen as a bloody mess. Just like most other revolutions, in the in exchanged an authoritarian regime for an authoritarian regime. The ideas of the revolution changed the human history around the world. The French Revolution started on July 14,1789 the revolution had many flaws but it the end it was still successful. Before the revolution third 3rd estate was burdened with taxes while the 1st and 2nd didn’t have to do anything.

The men that drove these revolts were very determined to change their world. When Marquis de Lafayette, a French noble, went to America and fought as a volunteer in the American Revolution, he was inspired by their quest for liberty. He brought this inspiration home with him, and began the French pursuit for freedom. In 1788 "absolute monarchy was collapsing... What would replace it?" (Mckay, 706). The three estates would quarrel for the next few years about how to proceed. In the end the National Assembly would form, vowing not to disband until a new constitution was born. On August 27, 1789 the National Assembly (NA) issued the: Declaration of the rights of man. By 1790 the NA would hold the power of lawmaking. Although it did not last long, the idea was there and it did bring about some type of reform. Unfortunately, Napoleon would reign and dictatorship would once again reign in France.

This statement shows how poorly people of the lower class were treated, and how corrupt this system of government is on the people of France. The first two estates held the majority of the wealth but the minority of the people, containing the nobles and clergy. In 1789, Louis XVI, King of France at the time, held a meeting to try to solve the major debt the country had incurred. However, only the first two estates were invited to the meeting. Although the Third Estate was not invited it was decided they would become liable to cover the taxes to rebuild the economy. Following this, the Third Estate declared themselves, the National Assembly. King Louis XVI was unhappy about this and locked the Third Estate from Versalles, weeks later the Third Estate storm the Bastille and overthrow the government.
