In 1503 Leonardo Da Vinci started to paint one of the world’s most famous paintings to this day, The Mona Lisa. Little is known about Leonardo Da Vinci for someone who lived so recently, but we know that he received very little education, just basic reading, writing, and math. Leonardo was someone who enjoyed painting, designing, inventing, and learning of all things scientific. At the age of fifteen his father apprenticed him to the well-known painter and sculptor, Andrea del Verrocchio, of Florence. To this day, Leonardo Da Vinci remains best known for his art, including some of the best known art pieces in the world, The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
The Mona Lisa has had a big impact on The Renaissance and the modern world. One way The Mona Lisa impacts the modern world is it inspires people to try art and painting, they look up to it and try painting like Leonardo. Another way The Mona Lisa affects the modern world is that artists use the same technique as Leonardo did for The Mona Lisa, in their own art. One way that The Mona Lisa affected the Renaissance is that it made art more popular. Once King François took notice of it and liked it, other took notice of Leonardo’s The Mona Lisa too, and after that, art became an important and popular part of The Renaissance. …show more content…

However, what we do know is that the woman in the image could have been da Vinci's mother, lover or even a disguised self-portrait. As of now, our best guess is La Gioconda, wife of Francesco del Giocondo. The Mona Lisa was starting to be painted around 1504 and was completed in 1515. The reason why The Mona Lisa is so famous now, is her smile.
