In Romeo and Juliet, outside influence have a large effect on the decisions of the two lovers. Many of their plans are created by others, such as Friar Laurence. It is because of him that Juliet fakes her death, causing Romeo to kill himself. Friar Laurence is also the one who married the two, as he furthered their idea of marriage so the two families would get along. It is also because of an outside influence that the two ever meet. If not for Benvolio and Mercutio taking Romeo to the party the Capulets were holding, he would have never seen Juliet and he would still be in love with Rosaline.
