First, the character Friar Laurence should have never married them in the first place. Another important detail is that Friar Laurence it might have ended the feud between the two families they always fighting with each other. The third detail important to the play is that he should have never given Juliet the sleeping drug to make her fake her own death. Finally, the Shakespeare that tells the reader that Romeo has killed himself to be with his love in the afterlife because he couldn’t be with her while she was living. These details are significant because it shows how friar Laurence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet just days after the weeding.

Mercutio and Nurse, the companions of Romeo and Juliet, do not fully understand true love. Their outlook on life and sex is quite different from the two main characters. She was the only one to know that Romeo and Juliet are married secretly at Friar Lawrence church. The Nurse should of let Capulet and Lady Capulet know that Juliet is in love with Romeo not Paris and Juliet is married to Romeo. Also, she should of let Paris know that Juliet is not in love with with Paris ,so that Paris won’t be in love with Juliet.

In this time period, parental consent was expected; the groom must ask the bride’s father’s permission. The Friar hopes to end the feud between the Capulets and Montagues by ignoring this rule and marrying the couple anyway. His plan of marriage fails at ending the feud and forces the Friar to devise more sneaky plans to hide his mistake. The issue is further complicated when Juliet is to be married to Paris promptly. The Friar’s very complex plan ensured that Juliet could not be married to Paris and that she could be together with Romeo. Juliet is the take a sleeping potion that makes her appear dead for fourty-two house/ The most important part of the plan is that Romeo, who is in Mantua, be informed to go to the tomb as Juliet wakes up. Friar Laurence doesn’t contact Romeo himself, so therefore the plan didn’t work. The Friar always intended to end the feud, but everything he did created a larger problem. The Friar’s good intentions lead to tragic results. Fate plays a major role because no matter how hard the Friar tried to make things better, they were destined to end poorly. At the end of the play the Friar realizes that the tragedy appears to be his fault, “I am the greatest, able to do the least, / Yet most suspected, as the time and place” (Rom. 5.3.223-224).

In the end he secretly married them, sent Friar John to deliver a letter to Romeo, and gave Juliet the potion to make her appear dead. He was the head of the church, which gave him a lot of power over people. Romeo and Juliet trusted him, and that is where they went wrong. Friar Laurence single handedly held the most responsibility for Romeo and Juliet’s death.
