One German monk named Martin Luther decided to challenge the church. He thought that believing and trusting in God, rather than doing good works, could a someone to Heaven. People started to support Luther in this idea and a new religion was formed. It was called Lutheran. After Luther another man named John Calvin came along. Calvin set up the first Protestant church. He believed that there was nothing in the past, present, or future that God did not know. It happened to the Roman Catholic whereby it split up and there was the formation of a new Christian religion called the Protestants. Martin Luther was the name of the man who sparked the split up. He differentiated with the Roman Catholics in the way they approached deliverance. The Catholics believed that one can only find deliverance in the interior of the Catholic Church, Martin Luther, on the other hand, believed that salvation was personal and one is only saved when the grace of God is sufficient to them (Quentin). Before the Reformation divorced was not allowed. If you and your significant other did not love each other anymore or did not get along there was nothing you could do. It was a sin to get divorced and you would be shunned if you were to leave your partner. That’s not the case at all in today’s world. Yes, not everyone approves of divorce and you should make sure you love that parlor before you get married, but if your marriage is honestly just not working out you will not be shunned and looked down upon if divorce comes to play.
