Edgar Allan Poe has not only brought new themes into the world literature, but also has created a new literary form for narrations about wonderful and unusual things. He is considered to be founder of detective genre, science fiction, horror stories, and poetry of symbolism. The analysis of creative works of Edgar Poe and his biography are very important in order to understand how the author came to creating innovations in literature and in which way he influenced the following generations of writers. All his life Poe was followed by misfortunes. He was born to a family of poor actors and very early he became an orphan. The boy’s foster-father hated him and disinherited Poe. It is a romantic story without any particular plot, however it describes deep passion and suffering from the broken promises. The story is an example of first person narration, romantic traditions, and the way the author uses his skills in telling not a horror or a detective story, but something lyrical and touching.
