Everyone has something that he or she loves to do. Some people get their share of fun by playing music, and others by hiking up steep mountains. Me? I have fun by enjoying sports. Sports are something that bring millions of people together and are also a phenomenal teacher of many things, one being loyalty. The same cannot be said for anything else. I believe that sports bring the world together unlike anything else ever could. There is no better feeling than walking through the gates at Busch Stadium and looking around and seeing 40,000 other people who have a similar interest with you. Next is the walk to your seats, and whether you’re on the fourth level or field level, there is not a bad seat. The atmosphere is always amazing. The appearance of one’s favorite player can often times make that person’s day 100 times better. For instance, when I go to a Cardinals game, I get happier knowing that my favorite player, Michael Wacha, will be pitching for the day. This is unlike any other activity, as I would not go to McDonald’s in hopes of seeing my favorite cashier. Sports have changed my personality and life. This I believe. …show more content…
This is a great example of how people can be brought together through sports. This may be the only time I see certain people all year long. The Super Bowl gives me and my loved ones something to bond over. Whether it is making predictions on the game with my friends, or making jokes about the commercials with my family, this game is a memory maker. This is the perfect event to make new friends and strengthen friendships. Who would have ever thought a single game could bring so much unintentional meaning to life? Sports create everlasting bonds. This I
The famous Scottish soccer player Bill Shankly once said, "Soccer is a matter of life and death, except more important."
Growing up in a house with all boys in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, I was taught to be tough and injuries were very common but easily shaken off. When it came to sports, I would put all my time and effort into one thing: soccer. Soccer was always a true passion of mine; as a matter of fact, it was more of a lifestyle than just a sport. I would spend weekends traveling around my local area playing the game I loved with people I enjoyed being with. My teammates became like my second family after countless seasons and we did almost everything together off the soccer field. The idea of putting on my jersey and lacing up my cleats was a moment I would not trade for the world and something I would never take for granted.
Sports have been a huge part of my life ever since I was about five years old. It has impacted my life so much. The biggest challenge that I faced was with my injuries during basketball and soccer season. I recently had to quit soccer and basketball, which was difficult for me.
Lush, green grass began to massage my bare feet. Sunshine beamed off the clean, white goal posts. With my cleats in my hands, ball in my bag, and my freshly washed shirt, only one thing came to mind: soccer. The sport I love and have devoted the past three years was evolving. Many of my friends were shifting from recreational to club soccer. After three years of recreational soccer, I decided to take my game to the next level and tryout for club soccer. Eager to showcase my skills, I stood on the field bearing confidence. Before tryouts began, my thoughts solely consisted of playing club soccer with my friends. I thought little about tryout preparation, because I didn’t know what to expect. No one gave me information about how to perform well
There has been many important events that have occurred since I have been born but there is one in particular that has sparked a light in me that has changed the way i have looked at things. It happened when I was playing with the Sacramento FC and everything was going well until the middle of the season. When we got to the middle of the season things started to look shady. I wasn't getting playing time and that really opened my eyes to reality. Soccer was not the only thing that I needed to do in order to have a good life. I needed to start focusing on my dreams and different routes to success other then just soccer. It really showed what I need to do in order to survive in the real world. If it was not for my family's support through this
When preparing for this big event, there are certain rituals performed. Some rituals include pre-game talk from sport anchors, buying of apparel, and Super Bowl parties. Sport Anchors go all day discussing other teams that had chances to make it, but most importantly they discuss the two teams playing, their key players, and players that once played for them. At this point, the sport anchors are getting everyone involved with the history of the teams as well as current information about the teams and players to remind fans and viewers. One thing that stood out to me about the preparation of the Super Bowl and the sport anchors were the discussion of Stuart Scott. Stuart Scott was a well-known sport anchor that recently died of cancer. They brought him up and became emotional because of his debt to society, sport, and the cultural of the sport. He was an inspiration to individuals who didn't engage or watch sport on the regular. Even some of the players of the Super Bowl teams discussed how much he had impacted their lives. This shows another level of cultural unity among players and individuals who analyze the sport. Fans are also getting involved by pulling from their closets throwback Jerseys and current player jerseys that contain players of them team they adore. Another activity that everyone can partake in that is performed often are Super Bowl parties. Individuals get together to watch the game and eat typical food such as wings, chips & dip, and drinking beer. Those particular rituals are what brings society together to come and watch the big game. Rituals that bring cultures and people from all walks of life together through the avenue of sports. Sports is one of the greatest platforms in the world. Not only can it can be used for entertainment, but it can also be used to bring cultures together and to unify them into one. Without sports the world would be more divided than ever,
All of the videos showed the importance of concussion identification, management, and prevention when it comes to all athletes. In the video Life Changed by Football, Zach Lystedt was just your typical high school athlete. His story focused on the idea that one day you could be perfect and the next day it could be changed. This all started when Zach’s head snapped back during football and he sustained a concussion. One of the most important things that happened, that shouldn’t have, is that Zach returned to play. Coaches and athletic trainers didn’t properly assess his injury, sending Zach back out to play. Zach’s brain was still recovering from his concussion and returning to play caused even more damage. As a result, Zach was unable to move
Soccer is my passion because it has given me so many opportunities in life and I have most of my best memories from playing soccer. Ever since I was young years old soccer has been my number one sport, I have played other sports like basketball, softball, volleyball and tennis but soccer has been the main one that has stuck with me. Soccer has benefited my life in so many ways it has helped me stay in shape, meet new people, go to places I have never been before, taught me how to be a great leader, improved my reaction skills and fastened my decision making skills in tough situations. This sport has relieved my stress lowered my anxiety levels and overall has made me a happier person. Soccer has helped me so much with my anxiety and I am thankful
I was told that on the day of my birth, the operating room was overcrowded with medical staff, bright
I have taken advantage of many opportunities that have been presented to me throughout my life, from running for student council office to participating in the geography bee, and I know that I am lucky to have been presented with these chances. However, I have also had my share of opportunities that I deserved but never received. This is especially true with my experiences with Junior Varsity soccer in my sophomore and junior years in high school.

When I was six years old I moved from Colorado to New Mexico. At the end of my junior year of high school I found out that I was moving back to Colorado. I was full of emotions that made me hate the world. I had thought of every possibility on how to stay in nm and finish high school. At the time I was talking to a girl that I really liked and had a lot of very close friends. I wasn’t the kind of kid to go out and do things with people but during the second half of my junior year I made some friends that I started to do things with. It was as if I had finally made all my friends and found people who I wanted to be around but it was all being taken away from me. One of my brothers still lived in nm and my plan was to stay in nm with him and
I have known it for fifteen years. For fifteen years I have lived, breathed, and marveled at it. I am only eighteen years old meaning it has taken up almost all of my life. I know nothing else but this, and it is soccer. Soccer has been my lifestyle ever since I was able to walk and it has been what keeps me going and keeps me motivated in life. Soccer has made me who I am today and has taught me almost everything I have ever needed to know.
Anyone that loves baseball should head to a major league game. At least once in their life is there is nothing like sitting with thousands of fans in a packed stadium and watching your favorite team play ball. The ballpark is filled with sights and sounds that send a chill of excitement down your spine. “Crack!” the batter rips a line drive down the third base line the crowd stands and roars for the home team. “Popcorn, hot dogs, soda, here!” echoes throughout the stands as strolling vendors climb up and down the stairs selling their fare grab your glove a high pop foul soars over your seats waiting to be caught by an eager souvenir-seeking fan. I was ten years old when I made the decision. Albion, the most prestigious soccer league in Houston Texas. I played for the second highest team in the county for my age, and was about to go to the first. But something was lacking, I didn't feel a sense of motivation to continue. That's when I switched from playing soccer to basketball.
