Purpose and Form While analyzing any sort of text it is very important to take a look at purpose and form. From purpose and form a message or moral, is thrived which provides a life lesson. Many times readers may overlook the purpose and form of a text, which can cause confusion and misunderstanding when expanding the reading to find a theme. Purpose and form are two critical aspects that are the main contributors to a meaning. This can be seen through “To kill a Mockingbird” written by Harper Lee, as she uses purpose and significantly uses a form to create meaning. Purpose and form can be quite complicated to determine and understand, but in order to get a deep understanding of the moral it is necessary to break down key conceptions so that a full meaning can be addressed. Harper Lee does an effective job highlighting purpose in “To kill a Mockingbird”. She sets her book in an era where racism is at its most severe heights. She uses Tom Robinson an African American accused of rapping a Caucasian female. Even though there is enough evidence to prove Robinson not guilty, he is proved guilty by and all white juries. From her novel, it is clearly demonstrated that the purpose of this novel is to break racial barriers and clear all stereotypical ideas. Lee does an excessive job writing this novel through a child named Scout. She bases her perceptions all through Scout and her point of view; this represents the form of her novel, the style, the shape of her literature. William Shakespeare does an efficient job emphasizing purpose in “King Lear” Shakespeare uses advanced literature and a different style of writing. His words are often misunderstood at first, but after some reviewing the message become clear. He makes reader concentrate on the way of procedure of his writing. “King Lear” is one of his very well known plays in which he uses Lear as a lead, who undergoes a huge tragedy and losses his kingdom. It can be hard to determine the meaning in this play, but if the purpose and the form of Shakespeare are sophisticatedly reviewed a meaning can be determined. Utilizing form and purpose through Lear, Shakespeare portrays that old age can lead to many difficulties, and decisions in old age should be taken in a very thoughtful manner.
