How Is Ancient Egypt Similar To Today

The river valley civilizations, ancient Egypt and China, were major cities with vast power and influence in the ancient world. Along came large and complex social structures, economics, and cultures. All three of those have similarities and differences between the two civilizations that greatly impacted the course of human history.

The ancient Egyptian and ancient Greek civilizations are two of the oldest known civilizations in our history. The Egyptian civilization, based in the eastern part of North Africa, is believed to have started around 3150 BC and continued till the end of the Pharaoh rule in 31 BC. The ancient Greek civilization is believed to have been in effect from 1100 BC till about 146 BC. Many similarities and differences existed between these two civilizations, as even though they co-existed during a certain timeframe (1150 BC to 146 BC), they were located in different geographical areas. Because of these differences in geography, both these civilizations were subjected to different kinds of exposure, which included contact with other civilization and cultural inheritance. In the political sphere, we find that the Egyptian civilization had stronger emphasis on central authority, while the Greeks had a more decentralized structure, where powers were distributed over the cities and the states as well. As far as art is concerned, we find that the Egyptians were more involved in creating great monumental and gaudy structures, while the Greeks were more involved in creating smaller, more literary pieces of art.

Sports in Ancient Egypt included Handball, Competitive swimming, Hockey, Weightlifting, Tug of war, Javelin, Jumping, Running, Boxing, Wrestling, Rowing, Equestrian sports, Handball and swimming. Ancient Egyptian sport also included team sports. They required team work in an effort to display skill, strength and sportsmanship.

When comparing The Shang River civilization (China) The Nile River civilization (Egypt) during the Bronze Age there were similarities and differences. Politically, they were similar and different because both governments were a dynasty and they governed their lands differently socially they were similar and different because both civilizations had distinct social classes and they had differences when it came to women’s rights. However, based on close observation (or close analysis) Ancient Egypt was more successful.

The people groups in ancient Egyptian were very different than our societies social groups today. Ancient Egyptians were grouped in a hierarchical system with the Pharaoh at the top and farmers and slaves at the bottom. The groups of people nearest to the top of society were the richest and most powerful. The Pharaoh was believed to be a god on earth and had the most power. He was responsible for making laws and keeping order. Ensuring that Egypt was not attacked or invaded by enemies and for keeping the gods happy so that the Nile flooded and there was a good harvest. Despite the ancient Egyptians' conservative nature and keeping to their core values, there were many changes within the infrastructure of their society during the middle kingdom. When Historians and scholars study the Old Kingdom, and the Middle Kingdom, One will notice that alterations to their religion, art, and architecture changed through both periods in history. Internal forces, as well as outside influences, shaped ancient Egyptian civilization. One would argue that the terms Old, middle and knew Kingdoms were of a hellenistic idea, instead of a Ancient Egyptian Ideology. The Old Kingdom founds its reign lasted from 2700- 2200 B.C. Now, Egyptians are very fond of arts, music and sports. Football is the favorite sport of the Egyptians. Family ties are also very strong in Egypt. The males respect Egyptian women, which makes most of the big cities such as Cairo and Alexandria much safer for women than any western cities such as Sudan and Kuwait.

Ancient Egypt (3000 BCE – 30 BCE) and Ancient Greece (1200 BCE – 146 BCE) based their entire lives around their religious beliefs. These beliefs led to their religious practices which were included in every aspect of their lives. Since ancient Greece’s and ancient Egypt’s beliefs differ greatly, endless differences can be shown between their religious practices. Modern day wouldn’t be what it was if early civilizations didn’t rise from nomadic life. Over periods of time, civilizations had evolved into what we know as modern day civilizations, but it couldn’t be possible without these two early civilizations. Between the years 3200-500 B.C two regions Middle East and Egypt had thriving societies. Ancient Middle East consisted of the civilizations of Sumer and Mesopotamia while Ancient Egypt consisted of the civilization of Egypt.Regions like these had developed the technology that has evolved into what people use in modern day. These regions relied on multiple items that allowed it to inhabit civilizations for so long. These two areas were different from one another, but they had many similarities. For example, even though Ancient Middle East and Ancient Egypt share their reliability on rivers and social structure, they differ because of their cultural arts and their views on the afterlife.

In Senet every player had seven pieces and it was played on a board of three rows of ten squares. The Egyptian Empire held a fascinating and very distinctive culture. Being one of the world 's most advanced cultures and creating tons of wealth is what separated them from everybody else. Between the outstanding artwork, teaching methods, and amazing pyramids is what helped their society advance altogether. No other civilization of the ancient world history had such a popular appeal and none as important as human society and its organization. Egyptians have made great steps in shaping the world we all know today, which have made studying their culture and society easier than some previous historical eras.

I believe Ancient Egypt in a civilization because it has all seven indicators! It has Complex religion, social classes, specialized workers such as craftsmen & artisans, organized government, long-distance trade, cities & methods of record keeping.

A board game (Senet) is the most well-known. Ancient Egyptians played other games too. A game that used a board with twenty squares has been found in some tombs. Also Dice have been found with another type of this game. It's too bad we don't know how to play these games. Maybe someday we will! Sports based in combat are strongly represented in many forms like wrestling, fencing with sticks, boxing, swimming, rowing, horse riding, and hunting in tombs and temples.
