In this novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, mockingbirds are portrayed as generous, kind, and innocent. In comparison, both birds and humans sing. In a way, mockingbirds are humans too. They all sing their heart out and enjoy life. The characters I chose were Atticus, Scout, and Boo. If these characters could sing a song in the novel one may wonder what song would match their characteristics and qualities. In the case, of Atticus Finch, he is respected by mostly everyone in Maycomb because of the intelligence and wisdom of his character. Since its the age of racialism, Atticus was asked to defend a black man. He does not judge anyone by race but by their actions. Another character that doesn’t see race as an issue is Atticus's daughter, Scout.. Scout Finch is a young girl who never gives up and doesn’t let anyone push her around. When the news gets out that Scout's father made the decision to defend a negro, named Tom Robinson, kids make fun of Scout. However, she is strong-willed and would never let anyone bring her down. The song she would sing is entitled, “Never Say Never” by Justin Bieber. Even though Scout is only 8 years old she has a big heart and would not let anyone push her around at all. In the lyrics of this song, it states “Whenever you knock me down I will not stay on the ground” And Scout would do that in any situation like that. Finally, Boo Radley, a lonely and maybe a little creepy man is a neighbor to the Finch family in this
“Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit’em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird…Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy.” In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch changes throughout the novel by becoming disliked by the town folks and disobeying the law.

Rickey Williams says, “I don’t think people change. I think the essence of what I am today is the same as when I was five years old. It’s just maturity.” (Ricky, Williams). To Kill a Mockingbird is a book with many themes, symbolism and adventures. It gives us the point of view of a little girl named Scout Finch in Maycomb, Alabama during the 1903s and shows racial prosecution of a black man named Tom Robinson. This little girl’s father decides to defend this man and despite drawbacks for his own family, Atticus Finch was wise to defend Tom Robinson for many reasons.
Instead of allowing the overwhelming hypocrisy and hatred of the town to get in his way, Atticus
When Jean Louise “Scout” Finch returns home to Maycomb County Alabama, she never expected the mindset of the people in her hometown to change. Maycomb would become more advanced and modern, but the views of the people she loved and grew up with, never would. “Until comparatively recently in its history, Maycomb County was so cut off from the rest of the nation that some of its citizens, unaware of the South’s political predilections over the past ninety years, still voted Republican.” (Lee 7). Since Maycomb is so distant from the awareness of certain historical events taking place in the mid 1950s, Scout does not expect to find a change in people’s mind relating to civil rights. When Scout first arrives home and sees people like Atticus, Aunt

Some have more courage than others do. In the book To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, Atticus, a father of two and lawyer, stands up for a colored man in a court of law. At first, the readers just see him as a studious, quiet father, who has unique parenting strategies, but as the book progresses, Atticus's character grows. His courage, honesty, boldness, and scruples shape his life. In the trial with Tom Robinson, this shows especially. His determination to create the best case he can even though the odds are stacked against him, show the perseverance and strength of mind he has. To Kill a Mockingbird Essay From the beginning of To Kill a Mockingbird to the end, Scout (Jean Louise Finch) changes a great amount. Throughout the book there were many people who had an impact on Scout’s learning and the changes she has made. One of the many people to have an effect on Scout’s learning in the book was her father Atticus. An important thing Atticus teaches Scout is tolerance.
“Courage is when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” (Lee 149). These words come from Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. He is offered the task to defend Tom Robinson, a black man, or leave him for another lawyer to defend his case in court. Although he knows it will put his family at risk of criticism and negativity towards the town, he boldly accepts the duty and burden of fighting for Tom Robinson. Accepting the case was not a blunder, it was a man making the correct decision by defending Tom Robinson.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird Scout has learned many lessons from everyone surrounding her in the community. Atticus, her father, is a very good role model and brought up his children in a very well mannered environment. From this we see Scout grow from a young girl into a young teenage girl. Many things shaped scouts perception of the world, such as the Tom Robinson case. One lesson Scout took from that incident is that everyone is equal no matter what
Atticus becomes involved in controversy when he agrees to defend Tom, a young black man. Atticus chooses to defend him despite the fact that many people ridiculed him because he told his children not to discriminate black people and if he chose not to defend Tom, he would be a hypocrite and could never expect his children to respect him again. Atticus was a good man trying to change the way African Americans were treated in Maycomb. Atticus decided to defend Tom even though he would lose since he was an African-American, but the point was to show his children not to discriminate. In Chapter 9, Atticus states that “Every lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that affects him personally.” He is trying to say that there is no way he can
In this quote Atticus gets angry at Scout for saying the word "nigger" and told her not to say it anymore even though everyone at school says it like a normal word. Once Atticus explains this to Scout, it shows that he thinks differently of the blacks then everyone else in Maycomb, Alabama and might foreshadow if people will dislike the Finch’s for helping the blacks.
One of the lesser-known mockingbirds in the novel is Atticus Finch. Atticus is a great father and even better man. He is metaphorically portrayed as a mockingbird because of his character and good heart. On page 289 miss Maudie says, “ Did it ever strike you that judge Taylor naming Atticus to defend that boy was no accident”(Lee). The judge knew Atticus was a good man and would do the right thing, he knew Atticus would defend Tom in the right way.
“There’s a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep ‘em all away from you. That’s never possible” (Lee 295). This quote explains some of the values Atticus parents by. Atticus tries to keep all of the ugly things in the world hidden from his children, but he knows this is an impossible task.
