An America without Martin Luther King, Jr., would be a very different America. It would be different because America would be segregated. Martin Luther King, Jr. pursued a career to end segregation using peaceful methods. Some of his methods include protest, boycotts, and many more. He had to go through many challenges to do so. Martin Luther King Jr. was an African American civil rights activist who grew up in the south. He is very known for his “I have a dream speech.” He was also very religious too. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an amazing man who stopped segregation using peaceful methods.

One of his first ones were the Montgomery Bus Boycott. He was chosen to lead the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The boycott was started because an elderly African American, Rosa Parks, got arrested because she did not give her seat up to a white man. The boycott lasted 381 days, and if someone was to participate in the boycott, they couldn’t use the bus, they had to walk. All of this paid off though because the US Supreme court lifted this law because it was unconstitutional. This was one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s first protest, and it inspired many other people to do the same. It was not easy though, he had many challenges or problems. An example of this is when Martin Luther King, Jr., was promoting his first book, an African American women stabbed him in the back. Not all of his his protest were as successful, in 1961 and 1962 they failed to desegregate that city. One of his most famous quotes are shown in this quote, “More than 50 years after its delivery, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous refrain of “I have a dream”remains a cry for freedom that has been adopted by activists the world over, from Tiananmen Square to the West Bank” (Nicolas). One of his most well known contribution is that everyone has equal right, no matter race or skin color. Martin Luther King, Jr., created this standard for every country. No one will be mistreated by anyone because of race or skin color. Martin Luther King, Jr, showed the world that you can accomplish things with peace by doing nonviolent protest to spread his word, not violence. He also gained African American equal voting rights as whites. Another one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s contributions is he showed society how to use peace to spread the word not violence. Some of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s roles include leader and role model. Martin Luther King, Jr., is a leader because he lead the Civil Rights Movement. He was even a leader at the beginning of his civil rights activist career because he led the Montgomery Bus Boycott, his first protest. He is a role model because he set a good example. He used peace to spread his word, not violence, and a lot of people should follow his idea of peace and
