The censorship conflicts in the 1900s were extremely intriguing and intense. Around the end of the 1920s, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the same time that the “Golden Age of Hollywood” began, the Hollywood Production code was formally implemented. The film
He spoke for his society and fought for what he believed in, all while promoting positive messages and spreading love and peace. He was unique in the ways that he made significant contributions to both US history and culture; he brought new aspects of film to the table that had never been seen before and paved the way to the cinematic elements that we have today, while simultaneously leading and speaking for the people during troubling times in both the economy and foreign relations. For these reasons, his legacy is likely to live on forever in the hearts and minds of

During The Great Depression going to the cinema was the best way to escape the harsh grip of reality. One could go buy a movie ticket and watch “a cartoon, a newsreel, a B-feature and the main film, which amounted to something like four hours ' entertainment for a nickel, the price back then of a gallon of petrol or a packet of cigarettes.” Early in the 30s films were about being rich and carefree. As the Depression took hold of the audience members and the filmmakers, films that touched on the topic of gangsters, social injustice, involving war, and being broke grew in popularity. Following this period of extreme social tension films began to climb and climb higher on the ladder of popularity and fantasy. More and more films about were being written and produced. The nation was going through a devastating time with everything hitting them at once. Mother nature was not helping at all she sent the huge dust bowl that lasted for years. The dust bowl put a lot of worries on the families for when it was going to stop or if it was better for them to move. People didn’t know what to do anymore, they were getting bored and that's when the movie theaters came out. The movie theaters were a place for people to sit down and relax and get their mind off of what was happening around them.
In addition, the banning of block booking (the mass selling of films to theaters, sometimes before their production had even begun), which in the 30’s and 40’s had propagated a mass of poorly and quickly made films, forced producers to take more care and create better features. In consequence of both of these factors--reduced budgets and reduced quantity--the standard of quality of films rose. No one could afford to make terrible pictures and expect a profit; therefore, the cost of filmmaking dropped and the quality rose, at least relative to the majority of the forgettable features of the studio system. These factors also allowed smaller studios and independent producers to make their own forays into cinema without competing directly with larger
Hollywood has been a formidable force in the film industry since the 1910’s onwards. As with any industry that has lasted that length of time, Hollywood has gone through a few changes to deal with the changes in technology and culture. One of the more significant changes that Hollywood has faced since the advent of sound in films, was the fall of its Golden Era. There were a combination of reasons the industry went through dramatic changes in the late 1950s to mid-1960s. The Paramount decree and other government imposed limitation on power of the studios, change in audience demographic, and a strict code system limiting the types of stories that could be told through the medium of film all contributed to a shift in the industry and the type of product that Hollywood
The Motion Picture changed everything. The very first movies were rather basic, showing everyday routines such as the arrival of a train or female workers leaving a factory. The very first “action” film was The Great Train Robbery (1905) which had a simple yet thrilling plot about cowboy bandits and their attempt to steal money from a moving train. Then several Westerns adapted the same basic plot, and some even moved it further. In the 1930’s the Noir and Gangster movies such as Little Caesar (1931), Scarface (1932), and The public Enemy (1931) became immensely popular, and these films normally had a rather violent story, many of them were inspired by real gangsters. Then Came the forties and the fifties, which were mostly passive eras on
but as time progresses, plays became less popular and films became more popular. In 1968,
