From the start of ACT paper 1 to ACT paper 4, I have learned about how the world around me defines my life and even my personality. What I found fascinating about the ACT papers is every paper will be different because of the way others view “their world” through their own experiences. This leads me to say that I never thought about how other people’s world could be different from my own. The ACT papers has helped me understand more about who I am and will help me understand how others view their world. ACT 1, focused on archetypes which means it’s the basic foundation of how people think about the world. Starting with ACT paper 1, I chose Pooh because he is kind-hearted. Although he can be naïve, he would go out of his way to please friends, which can be a positive influence for the younger generations. Winnie the Pooh is a great example of friendliness. In addition to, Charlie Pace should be saved because his life changed on the Island. He went from being a narcissist drug addict to caring for others while having a positive outlook in life. Charlie Pace was willing to change for himself which takes a lot of self-motivation. This leads me to say that I believe that everyone deserves at least one second chance. Lastly, the greatest fictional superhero is Spider Man. Spider man is the greatest because his powers are unique. It’s interesting how he is bitten by a radioactive spider and wakes up the next day with powers. Even though he doesn’t have super strength he could
Personal perspectives create reality and can change the world. The world around us is perceived by one’s own perspective and is subject to change at any time. Though the natural world around us is as it is, the mental perception of the world is only as it seems. Provided are examples of how personal perspectives can differ, how this may create problems and possible solutions to created problems in changing the world using personal perspectives. Everything is a matter of an individual’s perspective and opinion that follows. The only necessary tool for understanding everything is “how?” an acronym that stands for honesty, open-mindedness and willingness.
Between the World and Me examines the history and present circumstances of racial inequality and segregation in America. Coates directs the book to Samori to give his audience personal insight into the various stages of a black man’s life. From his childhood, to his college experience, to his complicated role as a father, Coates gradually unfolds a critical account of the relationship between black and white communities. He calls those who “believe themselves to be white” the “Dreamers” and criticizes them for the indifference toward black people 's experiences. He wants the audience to reflect upon themselves and realize that they are part of the problem.
To me writing is as crucial as breathing; it is a necessity for living. It goes deeper than conveying thoughts and ideas on a page. It is a means to experience several realities in a single lifetime.
In this section of the text can you make any connections with your own life or personal experiences? Explain
Everyone’s perspectives have been influenced by their experiences. Every so often a grand occurrence influences one’s life in an impactful way, while other times it is the little instances that influence your life the most. I know that I have definitely been influenced by innumerable occurrences, but one perspective stands out more than others. My perspective is unlike the majority of others. This is from the perspective of a girl who has four loving parents.
Every choice we make in our daily lives can positively or negatively affect who we are and what we do. What if one day you decide to go help out at a local charity event? Maybe the next day something good will happen to you. On the other hand, say you have one of those moment that almost every young child has and you tell your mother or father you hate them or wish you did not have to see them anymore. What if that really came true? How would you feel? Now I cannot speak for you but I know from personal experience that that feeling is the the worst feeling you could imagine.
Arguably, I am the dumbest smart person I know. One moment, I am on the top of the world leading an organization of more than 800 members; the next, I have my head stuck inside the freezer for 15 minutes in a lost cause to retrieve an ice cream bar. My life is full of ups and downs and I try to do my best, but often events escalate to the worst of scenarios. Looking at it closely, I see that my life resembles a sort of ongoing comedy. I can almost hear the powers that be, laughing hysterically at my follies. While the fates pay me visits, I seek to know why my life is full of laugh track moments.
My parents are from Mexico, they came when they were just teenagers. They found work wherever they could. I hear stories from my father about the first pair of shoes he ever had in America where some Chuck Taylor All-Stars, and the time he ever had a hamburger at whataburger and how he could finish it because of how massive it was. My mother tells me stories of her childhood. She talks about how her and her other siblings would work day after day in the fields they owned, how she learned how to be self dependant before the age of 10. When we go back to Mexico, everyone in the whole town knows. I can’t go anywhere without someone asking if i’m Miguel and Juana's’ kid.
Our worldview is essentially how we see the world around us, it is influenced by our experiences, how and where we were raised, our religion, the individuals who we surround ourselves with and our culture. My worldview has been affected by growing up in Ontario, being a Christian and being Christian education all my life, and having unique experiences. All of this has affected how I view the world around me and how I view education, curriculum, teachers and students. Based on my results from Education Philosophy Inventory I am a progressivist, because this was my highest score compared to the other philosophies. The progressivist believes that the student’s interests, goals and needs are important. They also believe that learners should be active rather than passive. One thing that progressivist believe that I disagree with is that students can make the future better than the past because society is continually changing. I think that people can make a difference in the world, but there will always be sin. It will be just as sinful as it was in the past as it will be in the future. Reconstructionism and existentialism tied for my second highest score. Reconstructionisms have similar beliefs to progressivists as they think that schools should take the lead to reconstruct society. I think that I fell into this category because school are teaching the future workers of society, teacher have a big responsibility. In a way teachers have the power to guide students to be an active
How can you make changes to your daily life? Many people have struggled on how to change their life. Daily life can be busy. Slight changes may be hard but it can lead to good things. Some people do not know how to do that and others are afraid of the future. If they change their lives, some people do not have goals in life and they do not want to change it. So, I want to share some tips that will help you to achieve this goal. First, you need to find an unhealthy habit in your daily life like spending a long time on social media. Social media is not very bad if we use it in a beneficial way but, not for a very long time, as this will be reflected in your life. It will take you away from real life like your family. It is stealing time that you can use for yourself and your family. In this article, I want to help you onto know how to arrange your life better and use time wiser, how to make a more peaceful life for yourself, and how to be an example to your closest people and the community. Your past life can bring stress to your present if you keep it living with you. Like if something negative from the past- something someone said, something someone did is still in your mind that will bring stress to your present life. Some people are still living in the past and have regrets about what happened or what was planned. Some people were unable to pass the circumstances in their past life.
To say that life has been one of constant motion is accurate. I have grown up many different schools, neighborhoods, and with people from all sorts of backgrounds. My environments have created much of who I am today. Through these diverse communities my values and morals have evolved over time. The way a certain population can contribute to shaping someone’s identity is crucial to their growth. “…neuroscientists are now discovering that at the cognitive level all three abilities – memory, location, and narration – are intimately bound up.” (Self np) He’s saying that place and story are key factors in one’s identity.
Life is about decisions and choices. Some we regret, some we’re proud of, some will haunt us forever. However they all impact our lives in some way or another. I found myself one day debating on if I should ask my father to move with him. I had been thinking about this for almost two years now, but I was just afraid of the consequences that might come from this decision. Since I have been thinking about it so long I finally decided to go for it.
When I was a child, my mom would tell me that all of my prayers always came true, and I believed it. Anything that I asked for or could ever ask for would come to me. I had an amazing family who supported me, trustworthy friends, and my life seemed great. I would go to church every Sunday, as I stood in silence as I opened my heart to God and felt the thrill every time I opened my Bible in the morning before school. I believed that my life would continue to be as blissful as it was when I was a hopeful eight year old girl. I believed in God as a sort of magician who would grant my every wish and desire.
It seems we all live in this world, but experience it in our own unique ways. We all Share some commonality and understanding, but the world is truly unique to each of us as an individual. Many philosophers were skeptical of Descartes' point of view, but I tend to agree. If we can not think, how can we truly understand our surroundings, as we experience them through our senses and adapt as all humans naturally do? Our ability to think is completely dependent on all of the things we perceive with our minds. Things about me could not possibly happen before my existence, and therefore cause my existence.
One of my spheres of influence is my family. I am both a wife and a mother. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 20 years and we have two beautiful daughters together. Our oldest daughter, Heather, is 19 years old and our youngest daughter, Rebecca is 17 years old. Heather is a senior in college and started student teaching this week. Rebecca is a senior in high school and currently trying to decide which college to go attend. Both girls still live at home with me and my husband. As a mother it is my job to guide my children in making the best choices for their future. When Heather started 9th grade I helped her weigh the benefits of graduating early. Since Pre-K she had always been bored with school, because she was a gifted child and the assignments were too easy for her. I helped her decide that taking dual credit courses in high school and graduating a year early she would be able to take more challenging classes and get an early start on her career. As a spouse, it is my role to be understanding and supportive of my husband. I would consider both myself and my husband as equal leader of our family. This is because neither of us makes major decisions without input from the other person. As a leader I try to act as a good role model for my children. I want them to see what a good mother and wife should be. I also want them to see what a Christian should be.
