Imagine yourself using the seatbelt, but that’s the only thing that’s keeping you trapped. The only thing you can remember is driving from your friend’s house then, blacking out and waking up to the car flipped. Sitting in the seat looking around, turning to try and release the seatbelt. But it won’t budge. Looking for the phone. What can you do? The seatbelt won’t come undone, and you can’t find your phone. Thinking back to the news saying someone had died from a car crash and they couldn’t get the seat belt unhooked. Looking for a way to get out. Maybe if you scream that will work out. You start to panic hoping nothing happens to you. Screaming for someone to help. You start to hear “There is someone in the car”. Trying to keep moving so
I then remember about the other car. I look over to my left and my eyes widen. It was a light blue van, an older model. The whole front side from the bumper to the windshield wipers were crumbled like a piece of paper. There were two people in the front seat, one looked fine but the others head was resting against the wheel. My heart starts racing, wondering if anyone was hurt and if so how bad. I look back to my right to see Logan jumping out of the car see if everyone is alright. I tried to open the door but notice that the other car is keeping my door from opening. I look out at Logan and see him talking to the family, the car had two little kids, one boy and one girl, and also a toddler. I jump across to the other door and jump
The chants grow louder, "Dayne, Dayne, Dayne", its 4'Th and goal, the Badgers trail Michigan by 5 with six seconds left. The winner takes home the title as the 1999 National champions. The ball is snapped, Bollinger drops back, fakes the pass, and pitches it to Dayne. He dodges a tackle, bounces off 2 blue jerseys, and stumbles in the end-zone for the game winning TD. Dayne's hard work and perseverance "paid off" and led Wisconsin to a victory.
It was late at night, and her car had broken down. She couldn’t call anyone because her phone had low battery, so she walked to the train stop. She waited a few minutes for the last train to arrive. She noticed she was the only the passenger, which led her to falling asleep for a bit. After five stops, the train broke down, or that’s what she thought, and woke up. The lights turned off. She headed to talk to the driver if everything was alright, but found her bleeding to death. She tried to get out of the train, but the doors wouldn’t open, which freaked her out even more. She tried calling someone, but remembered her phone was dead. To make things worse, the driver didn’t have his phone with her. She was hoping someone would pass by, but no,
The thing I would be able to give back to the Latino community and La Unidad Latina is my support. Support can go a long way if its shower right. I will support every event or occasion occurring in the community or with that fraternity. Any type of help that I can provide that’s what will be given. When you see people that truly support what you do you tend to feel better about it. What is better then a really big outcome on an event that you planned? That’s a great feeling, you feel very successful after that. Another thing that I have to offer is my skill to market things. I feel as though I am really good with getting the word out because I know tons of people willing to come. I am also very good at making flyers with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign,
I, I can’t believe what just happened. All these executions for a simple confession, this isn’t right. So many dead, killed by Napoleon and my puppies. Watching our friends murdered has left all of us shaken and miserable, but I almost feel guilty. Those were my pups that I let Napoleon train.
Not wanting to get passed by anybody, I quickly jump out to fix my tires. Back in the kart I jump immediately accelerating before the others zoom past. While I was concerned about my tires commotion was happing in front of me. I quickly make my way up to where everybody is huddled around car number twelve. Kylee, who is the driver, is motionlessly slumped over the steering wheel. My fingers are fumbling over the seatbelt buckle as I frantically try to jump out. I hear Kolby yell “Somebody call 9-1-1, she is bleeding out of her ear!”
Well I was not that lucky, as I went around the corner, I said “Watch this!”, as I pushed harder on the gas pedal. I came around the corner drifting off more than expected; I corrected it too much to where I lost control of the wheel. I blinked for a second, I could see we were heading right into a ditch. Not having much time to hit the brakes, right into the ditch we went. If it wasn’t for the way the wheels were turned we probably would have been able to drive away. The wheels were turned to the left, therefore the way they hit the ditch made us tip over on the driver’s side. I knew we had to get out instantly making sure nothing was leaking, or caught on fire, also to check if we were seriously injured. My friend and I had our windows down, therefore we climbed out of her window. When we got out of the car we both checked ourselves for anything, which I was covered in broken glass from when my window broke hitting the ground. Luckily I did not fall out the window because I was not wearing my seat belt. I had used my hand to catch me from hitting my head or anything else. I was bleeding all over from the many little cuts I had from shoulder to my fingertips. After making sure we were
A young man was being pulled over for not wearing his seat belt, while the officer was writing the violator a citation, a drunk, and speeding driver haphazardly sped past them running into a guiltless bystander. It may seem like having more stringent seat belt laws is a reputable idea; Nevertheless, It is not the most feasible way to maintain safety on the road, Drivers would be safer if they merely exercised some common sense to put down their cell phones and paid attention to the road. Failing to wear a seat belt should not be illegal because it only affects the driver’s safety, it is impractical for police to enforce, and lastly, the majority of people already wears a seat belt.
In the beginning of the creation of seat belts , less than ten percent of vehicle owners actually used their seat belt (‘The Evolution Of Seat Belt Laws…”). After the multitude of fatalities grew , people began to recognize the importance of vehicle safety later leading to laws created in favor of seat belts. Seat belt use and safety increased an estimated fifty percent as states began to create laws and strict penalties (“GHSA”). In 1984 New York became the first state to enact a seat belt use law. By 1996 every state had followed New York with the exception of New Hampshire.(“Safety Belts”)
The first thing you should do is stop immediately. If you just drive away, you could
In 2016, 3,773 people died in a motor vehicle traffic accident and of that 3,773, 43.71% were reported not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred. The “Click it or Ticket” slogan was made to encourage drivers to wear seatbelts, but it’s impossible to pull over every single person that isn’t wearing
Driving to school, your friends are in the back going crazy, you’re in the driver’s seat, blaring your music at top volume. You start talking about your assignments, and how the rest of the day is going to go. Then boom! You swerve to the left, desperately trying to gain control of the car. You feel the car tip, slightly at first, then as you try to swerve back right it flips. It rolls down the hill, tossing you and your friends around the car. You end up upside down, out of breath, with cuts and bruises all over your body. No one hit you, you weren’t distracted. You were driving just as you’d been taught.
For the people who use the excuse that "They are just going around the corner" should realize that 80% of traffic fatalities occur within a 25-mile radius of your home and at a speed of 40 miles an hour. Buckling up to drive around the block is probably the best time to do so. Everyone knows that car crashes can cause death; yet because people do not buckle up all the time thousands of people still die in traffic crashes yearly. Seatbelts can save your life in a crash and can reduce your risk of a serious injury. Seat belts keep drivers and passengers from being ejected through windows or doors. This is important because your chances of being killed are five times greater if you are thrown from the vehicle. Thousands of people who die in car crashes each year might still be alive today if they had only been wearing their seat belts.
When I walked down the street, and seen the baby in the back seat, I freaked out. Obviously, I would help the baby. To help the baby I would most likely have to break the windows out of the car, even if I wouldn’t want to. Another option I had was to call for help.
The car backed up and shone the light all around the area, yet it seemed they did not spot my rigid form lying frozen against the ground. After several anxious moments the light disappeared and the cruiser crept away. I lay in my place, motionless for a long, slow count to one thousand before I even dare raise my head. I carefully glanced around to confirm I was alone, scanning the streets cautiously before resuming my
