[ Lights are swirling all around. Blue, red, any color you could find on the internet, it was there. There’s snippets of chatter, love confessions, arguments, secrets. Then suddenly, it stops. A light snaps up on a boy, sitting on his chair, his phone in hand. ] [Tyler] … and if we all band together, we can do this. We need to be united. Thank you. (he narrates as he types, before sighing and smiling) [Zoey, from another room] Ty! You need to get out here! Bachelorette is almost on! [Tyler] (under his breath) Oh my god. (louder) Not in the mood, Zo-Zo! (he stands, slipping his phone into his pocket and looking around.) Going for a walk. [Tyler begins towards the door, and the lights start again as the scene shifts. They don’t speak for us! We speak for ourselves! [Soon, everyone is standing, exiting the Chili’s together. All but Matt and Tyler. Matt leans over, whispering] [Matt] Can we do this? [Tyler] We can, and we will. The rally is tomorrow, nine a.m at the library. [Tyler stands and exits, leaving Matt alone. Matt reaches for his phone, dialing a number. Lights go up on Helen, standing on the other side of the stage] [Helen] Matthew, this better be important. [Matt] It is Mom. [Helen] Then spill, I’m busy. [Matt] They’re rallying tomorrow, nine a.m at the library. [Helen] Thank you! I can finally put a stop to those… impurities. Except you, my center has been working on a cure.
