America has the highest percent of obese people compared to anywhere else in the world. As a country America is trying to find a way to fix this problem. With the way things are going now it will be tough. There are many factors that contribute America being the most obese country in the world. One of the major factors that contribute to America’s obesity problem is the way technology has changed our world. Technology itself is not the only factor that helps contribute to America's obesity problem but it is one of them that may have a slight correlation to other factors. With the advancement of technology, fast food ads are often used to encourage consumers to buy fast food products. Americans see ads for fast food often on Tv, the internet and on billboards. (not in Vt though)The prices of fast food has been becoming cheaper and cheaper and getting more for less. In most places in the US you are able to find a fast food joints everywhere. The lifestyle, portion size, cost of food and the lack of motivation and time. It really is easier to ignore all of the factors that contribute to obesity. America has gotten ourselves into this within the past couple of years and is trying to find a way out. It will be hard because there is not one clear cut way to fix this problem. It’s one of the many reason that makes obesity such a hard topic to talk about or understand. What causes are leading to obesity? In America, there are many overweight and obese Americans. A handful of factors can lead to obesity, but the major factors are some things Americans don’t see or want to give up. Like food, no one wants to give up tasty food, even knowing it is bad for you. With technology life is so much easier and no one wants to give that up and have their life be more stressful and frustrating. Fast food, technology, and advertisements are characteristics of why obesity is growing.

America is known for its advanced society and technology, but is also known to be one of the most obese populations. Found in “Down to Earth”, America is one of the most progressive countries to exist; therefore it should be the healthiest (“Obesity in America”). If America is so highly advanced, more advancement needs to be put towards obesity rates. As time goes on, adults and children are having to consequently expand their waistbands because of unhealthy habits. In an article previously discussed, Brown-well states that Americans are at an all-time low in exercising (Murray). By having less motivation to exercise, family health is at stake. Future generations need to be more pressured to keep physically fit for their health. With less motivation for a healthier lifestyle, communities across America will remain obese. According to CBS news, Americans prefer to consume Twinkies over Tofu (“The Blame Game”). With Americans not giving healthier options opportunity, less interest will be put into healthy options. Individuals are focusing on the pleasure of taste than their own well being. Internationally speaking, Americans have one of the strongest societies, but the weakest mindset for healthy living. With stubborn attitudes and continual unhealthy choices, obesity will not only stay but
The United States of America is nation that is known for its romance with guns and food. Not the most glamorous idea to be known for but in a way the comical characteristics fit the ever growing nation. Yet this obsession with the greasy, cheesy, and always supersized holds a much grimmer reality. Obesity in America is through the roof with 36 percent of American adults being classified as obese. This alongside the rapid growth of childhood obesity has created a love for shows about weight loss and health like those of “The Biggest Loser”. These inspirational shows help to show that “it” can be done, the seemingly impossibility of losing the hundreds of pounds that need to go. Though the shows are inspirational and entertaining, they are dangerous for all of the people who have lost all this weight disillusioned that they can keep it of, furthermore the
Well, as you know from resent news updates and news papers America is one of the “fattest” countries in the world. Most people would love to blame that problem on the restaurants. It’s not the restaurants fault that the people of America are over weight. People have a mind of their own, they know exactly what they want, when they want it, and how they want it.
Once the issue of malnutrition plagued many countries around the world, today obesity has become the new epidemic. The word epidemic traditionally “refers to an acute outbreak of disease caused by a specific microorganism that spreads through a sizable portion of a population and requires serious responses such as quarantines, travel restrictions, and medical treatment” (Bellisari, 2013, p. 4). Dealing with an epidemic often brings social disruption. When you look at how many millions of people are affected by obesity and its related health concerns, the use of the word epidemic seems very appropriate. When discussing the dynamics of obesity you must consider the rising number of
Obesity is a very serious threat to the health of Americans and people all across the world. A plethora of studies have been done to confirm the adverse effects of obesity on an individual 's health. Obesity rates have been skyrocketing in the past 30 years. The year 2000 marked the first time in human history that the percentage of obesity in the human population rose over 50% (Obesity: A Cultural and Biocultural Perspective). Obesity, as well as childhood obesity, is more prevalent than ever. There has been little done by the American people and the U.S. government to reverse this trend. My research has shown that the problem of obesity is a much larger problem than most people believe it to be. Many Americans underestimate the

United States of America is one of the most leading obese countries in the world, and the reasons are fairly understandable. We can observe that on our own. We have fast food chains on every block, where the foods are very cheap and unhealthy. Besides, we have more and more technology to make our lives easier. Hence people are getting lazier. All these factors involve weight gain in our country. People are getting fat and fatter day-by-day causing them more illness. Today, an estimated one in three Americans are obese (Parker-Pope). If the obesity rates keeps on going high some day we might face more difficulties such as decrease of healthy lifestyles , increase in cardiovascular
Obesity is a very serious subject that a lot of people take lightly, especially us as Americans. America is the most obese country in the world. Statistics show that 300,000 people die a day in the United States of America due to obesity. This clearly shows that we have a serious problem that is massively underestimated. Obesity is also something that countries all across the world suffer from. For example, Australia is also one of the most obese countries in the world, and 50,000 people die a year from obesity in Australia. That’s 140 people who die per day in Australia. To solve the problem of obesity the prices of junk food should be raised and the prices of healthy food should be lowered and more convenient.
Obesity has increased in the last few years in America and many people have begun to suffer from overweight problems . About 72 million Americans - more than one third - are obese . Being very obese means you might have a lot of health problems related to your weight such as, heart disease , stroke , high blood pressure , type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer disease . Obesity means having too much body fat. It is not the same as being overweight, which means weighing too much. A person may be overweight from extra muscle, bone, or water, as well as from having too much fat . Some of the Americans use surgeries as solution for their obesity . In other words , Weight loss surgery might be an option for people who have extreme obesity (BMI of 40 or more) when other treatments have failed. Every day we can make choices to eat differently , move our bodies more and enjoy a healthier life . I believe that obesity in America has become more common because of so many reasons.
Over the years, America has become an obese nation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) affirms that obesity is the number one health problem of the 21st century. Two-thirds of states in America have adult obesity rates about 25% (Snaric, 2010). There are many factors that contribute to Americas obesity including, socioeconomics, fast food, and emotional influences.
Justin Timberlake, one of the most popular recording artists today, filmed a commercial for McDonald's. A spokeswoman for McDonald's said "the campaign is getting "buzz on the street." The song he sings in the commercial was also to be released as a full length single (MacArthur, 2003, p. 2).
But, this increased access will not help us if our citizens never utilize it. They will need to commit to a healthier lifestyle and limit their daily calorie intake. An exercise plan would also help in implementing a healthy lifestyle in our community. All it takes is an hour of physical activity (outside) each day instead of sitting inside on the couch eating potato chips. If we can commit to an hour of exercise each day, then we will be very successful in fulfilling a healthy lifestyle in our communities. With those steps completed, surely our percentages and ranks will drop to a more reasonable level. Our ultimate goal is for our citizens to live a healthy lifestyle, and with this plan we believe that it can happen.
