As social workers, it is important to study the entire aspect of the individual. We must examine the individual past and see if their condition is trauma-related. It is the job of the social worker to identify the issue, in this case it would be a person who suffers from a mental illness and is placed in isolation when in jail or person and find the best solution for that issue. The solution to the issue may not be what’s written in a handbook or what we were thought, but sometimes we must find alternate resolutions. While we may not have the answers to combat the issue; if as social workers we could find the root cause of the issue that may help in the intervention process.

Interventions are widely used in all areas of Human Services to assist those in need meet their goals of self sufficiency. Some common interventions include reframing, the process of helping someone see a situation in another perspective, and Task-Centered Approach, the process of breaking down the problem into smaller and more manageable goals, that eventually lead to solving the original problem. Determining which intervention to use widely depends upon multiple variables such as; the problem the client is currently facing, their current emotional status, whether they have a support network or not, and their current use of coping skills. If some of the above variables are missing, it has been common practice to address these issues prior to using interventions to address the problem.

Since being placed in charge of the Residential Intervention Program, I have noted some issues with the information provided within the staff reports. The program was designed as an alternative to incarceration of low risk offenders, however, we must gauge if the program is effective and what is the current status of the program. Despite the recent report provided by staff which states there was a small reduction in recidivism, utilizing multiple interventions, I see room for improvement and need clarification of the results provided by staff.

The field of Human Services is strictly abroad. Human services approaches the objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems. The Human Services profession provides many different types of helps; it could either be educational, psychiatric, and even financial if needed. There are many different fields when it comes to this profession. From education to a community planner, all these have to do with human services and helping people in need. Human services are mostly needed in low income areas do to people in need. Poverty calls for this types of services, do to people needing psychological treatment, education, community and many more. In this field it is very important that workers know how to handle their workers. As a professional in this job it is very common seeing outbreaks and different aggressive reactions towards workers and people around them. Workers required training in a new framework of skill that incorporates the profound changes shaping the field.

In general, significant and growing numbers of individuals and families face substantial economic challenges and as a consequence, mental health challenges. Lower income group including minorities and immigrants experience a higher burden of health-related concerns. People who are homeless do exhibit several of these risk factors because of their living situations, including alcohol and drug abuse, which is common in this neighborhood. Immigrants who do not speak English well may be afraid to seek mental health care if they are undocumented. For these reasons and more, the project is crucial to the underserved people of this community. When first hearing the word group, people normally picture about 5 people hanging out as friends but there are many different types of groups that we don’t even realize in our day to day lives. When I hear the word group I think of people who have the same beliefs or values. This definition when you think about it is far from correct, there are groups everywhere and they don’t always believe the same values. Groups can be very helpful in the human service field. There are many different types of groups in the human service field anywhere from groups of workers all working toward a common goal to a group of people who need to talk about the problems they are facing in life. When I first met Mary, the social worker and I went to her home, and she was sitting on the side of her bed staring out the window. The intervention and treatment plans were always conducted in her room because that is where her hospital bed was. The social worker that had been working with her for months gave me information about her medical history and that she was married. As I walked in to meet her, I introduced myself and began to assess Mary by asking her a few questions. She was quiet, so, I started telling her a little about me.

As the increase in ethnic and racial minorities continue, so do the increase in health disparities among individuals with diabetes (Hispanic or Latino, 2014). Many interventions are currently being used in healthcare settings to help prevent further health complications among minorities with diabetes (Peek, Cargil, & Huang, 2007). A study by Peek, Cargil, & Huang (2007), titled, “Diabetes Health Disparities: A systemic Review of Health Care Interventions”, further examined the importance of education in the overall management of diabetes, and it’s improvement to better health outcomes (Peek, Cargil, & Huang, 2007). In this assignment I shall be defining the topic surrounding crisis throughout the field of mental health. I will be attempting to do this by using a various range of literature and theories of that can help us create a greater understanding and knowledge base of what a crisis is, why it occurs and how we can potentially prevent a crisis from occurring. I see what you mean, by psychosocial intervention being effective with highly functioning children with the autism spectrum disorder. As a helper, it is important to have the proper training in the intervention, which the helper chooses to use for treatment. A helper would have to be knowledgeable to determine which level of the disorder the young client has. The level of function range from mild to highly functional. However, many youths will be determining to not have the diagnostic as the years passes.
