Life is not as easy as you think Human Trafficking is spreading throughout the entire world but no one has had success at ending it, Why is that? Human Trafficking (HT) is something that people do not have a very clear understanding, but they might have an idea of what it is. January is HT month to help spread awareness and have people help make it stop(“Fox 5”). People have raised over $40 Billion from having people get others to do HT.(“ENDHTNOW”) There is not just one type of trafficking there are multiple types. Along with the types there are also ways you tell when people are in trafficking. There also is positives about it but there are very few. People should stand up against Human Trafficking to make it end. Not everyone knows about
Human trafficking is a very secretive act most of the time and most Americans are oblivious to the extent of trafficking situations because they are not informed. To help stop human trafficking, one needs to understand what it is. For starters, traffickers begin by forcing people to go somewhere with them and then manipulating them into forced labor or sex. Anybody can be a victim of human trafficking but children and women are victimized the most. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, fifty percent of trafficking victims are children, eighty percent are female, 70% of
You turn on the news and see another story about trafficking in a third world country. You’re not surprised. One day, you see a story about trafficking in the United States. You’re surprised. Human trafficking happens all around the world, yet it’s a taboo subject. Over 20 million people are trafficked around the world. They’re usually forced into labor or prostitution. There are government efforts towards combating this problem. Despite these efforts, the government is not doing enough because in preventing and regulating it.
As time progresses, people are becoming aware of sex trafficking as a global problem and they are willing to step up to help the victims return to a normal lifestyle. It has become obvious to the society that underage sex trafficked victims would be able to live a happy life and enjoy their freedom. Accordingly, “Clawson and Goldblatt Grace suggested that in many other facilities, DMST (Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking) victims often go unrecognized, making both training of staff and establishment of additional organizations dedicated to meeting the unique needs of this population priorities” (Kimberly, 184). Because of how psychologically damaged and unsafe victims are, organizations who protect underage prostitution victims are taught thoroughly about their responsibilities. In addition to programs to help and protect victims, there are also rehabilitation programs for the offenders.
In order to stop Human Trafficking, we must understand what it is, why it works, and how it is kept afloat. This is difficult as many smart people the world over have attempted to explain this. Human trafficking can arise in many areas of the world, although currently most of
As addressed there are numerous problems with human/sex trafficking. The impact of trafficking on people and their communities are too important to overlook. Even though there aren’t certain ways of completely stopping it all together, there are ways to solve or shrink human trafficking. In the past there have been policies established to try and hinder human trafficking. Various acts of legislation have been passed to aid victims, prosecute criminals and stop associating with businesses known for using enslaved workers. One of the largest legislation acts passed was the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (Current Federal Laws Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 2015). The TVPA was originally created in the year 2000 and was used to
Human trafficking has been around for many years, from Greeks to the Roman to medieval times, and even until to today. It is a worldwide issue. People have been exposed to many forms of oppression. The Richmond Justice Initiative told the Holly Austin Smith story. “When Holly Austin Smith was Fourteen years old, she ran away from home with a man. Holly often suffered from depression, but still had dreams of being a singer. Holly exchanged numbers with a man. Then, the man had called her. He asked her questions like, what were her dream? He also got to know her. What she thought was freedom turned into out to be an inexorable clutches of sex trafficking” (“Survival Story”). Trafficking is a dangerous act that can get young people
Human trafficking of U.S. citizens and foreign nations persist and thrive for various reasons, one is the low risk involved. This is when the community is unaware of this issue, when the government/community institutions aren’t properly trained to respond, and the biggest reason yet is when law enforcement does not investigate and prosecute the crime, human traffickers perceive little risk or deterrence to affect their criminal operations. The next reason why human trafficking is so successful is because the high profits; when individuals are willing to buy commercial sex, they create a market and make it profitable for the traffickers to sexually exploit children and adults. (“Why”)
Human trafficking is an serious issue that the population is not as aware of as they should be. First of all, what is human trafficking? Human trafficking is the action of illegally transporting people without their consent. There are about 20.9 million people trafficked every year globally (Polaris). There are more people enslaved now than there has ever been in history. Just because these slaves aren’t out in the open doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Some reasons people are trafficked are to do forced labor, sexual exploitation, slavery, or the removal of organs.
“No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.” (UN-Universal Declaration of Human Rights-Article 4) According to IRIN Human Traffickers make about 7-12 million dollars annually just from the US. This makes it the second highest criminal active just passing Weapon Trafficking, and fastest growing, and yet in most countries there is little to no punishment if you get caught. But wait, what is considered Human Trafficking? According to the UN, Human Trafficking is recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of violence, of abduction, fraud, deception, the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability
Children around the world are forced to work jobs harder than grown adults have ever experienced and it needs to stop. Much of this has stemmed from another nation-wide problem: Human Trafficking. Some children as young as four years old are subjected to Human Trafficking and have eighteen hour work days (Potenza). This amount of strenuous work only leaves six hours in a day to eat, sleep, and rest when the recommended hours of sleep needed for a school aged child is ten to twelve hours a night ("All About Sleep."). A number of laws have been set in place to try to stop Child Labor but it is rampant and nowhere near completely eradicated. More than 500,000 minors work on farms, many of which do not have a limit to the amount of hours they
Ss the great Ben Franklin said “Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are” until everyone takes an active step to ending human trafficking, it won't happen. But many individuals have stepped up to take a role fighting human trafficking. Such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi who has fought to protect the rights of 83000 children, often putting himself in harm’s way to do so. Once, just as Kailash once heard of a man who sold his 15 year old daughter to a brick maker. Right away Kailash tried to get in but was repelled by the armed guards and the mass amount of people. He then convinced a judge to send him with a police force to the place, and managed to save the 15 year old girl and many others. once said “ Child slavery is a crime against humanity. Humanity itself is at stake here.” Which is true, as if humanity doesn't defend it's morals, humanity is at stake, and humanity itself is a far time away from getting rid of human
According, to me Sex Trafficking is very common these days which has to stop in a delicate way; in other words, this is human trafficking which is a chain that goes from one city to the other. This is the world's largest crime and illegal policy running the business. Most countries run this business, for instance, some parts of India have this business going where they sell their children or teenagers girls for money because they are financially unstable. Sex Trafficking is an interesting topic to learn because, you learn so many things you haven't known before and this is a great way to start, however; it provides the best information about Trafficking. If you estimate it then a lot of people are in this industry and surprising some Hollywood
Human trafficking is an epidemic around the world. It doesn’t just happen once in a great while, but it’s happening all the time. Every single day, people are involved in human trafficking. People need to help raise awareness of what is going on around the world, and we are definitely not doing enough to help stop this issue. Also, the way the women and children are being treated is absolutely horrible. They are beaten, starved, and even murdered. In almost every situation, they can’t do anything about it because they are scared for their lives. Society as a whole needs to be more educated about human trafficking.
According to the latest 2016 TIP report human trafficking is an extremely profitable $150 billion-dollar global industry that affects not only the economic structure of the modern world it also inhibits the basic human rights of individuals worldwide. An industry of that size is hard to conceptualize, so consider a comparison with one of the top ten Fortune 500’s most profitable global corporations Apple. As reported by USA Today, Apple’s reported earning only $53.4 billion that would only represent approximately a third of the profit from the human trafficking industry. Money from human trafficking flows to third parties like businesses, corporations, and banks who receive financial benefit and may serve the sole purpose of being a funding source to facilitate the human trafficking. Given the large profit available from human trafficking combating it can only be effective by attacking the tremendous funds perpetuating it.
Human trafficking is a horrendous crime that is eating away at the lives, dignity and freedom of our women and young children and lately, also our men, at a very rapid rate. It is reaping in
