Humorous Wedding Speech for a Car Salesman Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen – for those of you who don’t know me I’m Floyd, Edward’s best man. Of course, the only problem with being the best man at a wedding is that you never get a chance to prove it, but if anyone wants to start a drinking competition later, then come talk to me. Edward has been a great friend to me since we met. And, over that time, he's always been there for me. I remember especially him being there when I had my first car crash… oh, that's right, Edward was driving! Laughter Honestly Edward, I’m not really up here to embarrass you. You did a fine job of that yourself during your bachelor’s party (stag night). In fact, we were a little concerned when you …show more content…
A couple of days later, the man arrived to pick up his car, but was told that the keys had been accidentally locked in it, and their was Edward working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. The man watched from the passenger's side, instinctively he tried the door handle and discovered it was open." Hey," he shouted to Edward and the rest of the showroom, "It's open!" Obviously embarrassed and his pride given a denting, Edward replied; "I know, I already got that side open." Ordinarily people live and learn. Edward just lives. Now, I realize that all best men are supposed to talk about former girlfriends, and if Edward had any, I would certainly include a story about them. Luckily for him, I was unable to find proof that he actually dated someone. So I’m glad to see he finally came to his senses. Edward met Nancy six years ago; it was the day before my 21st birthday party. I know this, because the following morning I got a message from Edward saying, ‘Went out last night and met a really nice girl, going to bring her along to your party. She knows nothing about me, so please can we drop my Tinyballs nickname for the night.’ It was immediately obvious just how besotted Edward was with Nancy. However, he was initially intimidated by her. Despite all his success, if you scratched beneath the surface, Edward was still a simple Somerset boy at heart. ‘She’s different to us’ he informed me.
The first person who first meets Edward is Peg when she is going up to the mansion to sell her Avon cosmetics. He comes out of the shadows Peg is shocked by his looks. “Oh my! What happened to you?” She asked shocked by his scissor hands. During this the camera shots of Edward are mostly close ups on his face and hands point out his most unique and different features. Edward’s clothes throughout the entire movie are tight, black, leather which is very different to the bright colourful town’s people’s clothes and often these clothes made him stand out which set him apart from the town’s people. Edward isn’t just set apart by film techniques, he is also very much an outsider to the towns who find him curious. This is shown in a few situations. The main one is at the BBQ when George Monroe meets Edward and asks him to play cards. “Would you like that? The only thing is you can’t cut.” George said making fun of Edward’s differences, something he wouldn’t do to a friend. While Edward and Esmeralda are quite different from the town’s people, Peg is one of them but struggles to fit in at times because of how she sees things and how she is more
Despite the novel 's romanticization of him, Edward is an obsessed stalker with no interests or friends other than his “family” (six other vampires) and Bella. He lures her with money, cars, and clothes—all of which she claims she does not want—to isolate her from connection with others. When she originally attended her new school, Bella had managed to make a few new friends. However, after Edward criticizes them as being “shallow,” Bella immediately cuts herself off from them. After they begin dating, Bella becomes completely dependent on Edward, as he is from then on one
At the start of the film, Edward is presented as a character who never experienced affection because of his past. He has been created by an inventor from a cutting machine. The inventor has given Edward everything that the people have: a brain, a heart etc. But, the inventor was dead before making a pair of hands for him. Then, he just has scissors instead of hands. He doesn’t look like a
Individuality is a really important theme in the film Edward Scissor Hands, and is conveyed strongly throughout the character of Edward. Unlike most of the characters who live in the same type of perfect, conventional housing and who all basically follow the same daily routines, such as, gossiping on the phone. However, Edward is different; he is special and unique. For example, the housing in the community are all one solid colour and all have the same shape, the characters are all dressed similarly, and all act the same. When Edward was introduced into the community he was looked upon as different, but Kim's family knew he was just an individual, who does not belong to the community. Edwards complexion is very unfamiliar with the community with his pale skin, rough hair, leather clothing and the scars on his face. Peg tries to cover Edwards scars on his face with makeup, so he can be looked upon in the community as 'normal'. Edward was an artist, he had so much skill from cutting dogs
Edward is an admirable character and displays acts of loyalty throughout the film. We see this quality in Edward when he knowingly breaks into Jim’s house. This shows his loyalty towards Kim because kim was the one to ask Edward to help them break in. Kim asks Edward, “Why’d you do it?” to which Edward replys, “Because you asked me to” This shows how Edward is trying to express his love and loyalty towards Kim. he In this exchange between Edward and Kim, Burton
In the film, Edward explores the theme of love in many different aspects of life. It was clear that the day when Peg kindly brought home Edward to the conventional village, she also brought down a deeper and more meaningful understanding of love. For all Edwards’ life, he had only known one person, his creator, and even though he was not all human, the bond of family was something that they had, and the most precious thing he lost when his creator "never woke up". Therefore, when he had nothing left but his own entertainment Edward turned to art instead, beautifully caring for his garden around the dark and ghostly mansion. After he had been brought down to the community, he developed a love for Peg's family who cared for him. He grew to have a great love for Kim, who adored Edwards individuality and kind heart above Jim, urging him away after he became sickly jealous of the couples’ love. Kim exclaiming, "Jim I don’t love you anymore I just want you to go, just go!" despite this Jim's jealousy resulted in his death. Edward found happiness in the simplest of things, such as gardening, ice-sculpting, cutting hair and the company of the people around him and

Edward Bloom is a true hero, he has a unique personality; different from everyone else, always the strongest, bravest and has the greatest work effort; he was not the ordinary. He is also very adventurous “takes the dangerous shortcut that can get him killed to go to a town” (Big Fish) and has a partner with him all the time: the giant, wife and his rival throughout his life, Don Price. He sees a girl for the first time and states that he is going to marry her: love at first sight, he has no idea who she is or where she lives but gets small bits of information from his boss by working for him for free; instead of getting paid in cash, he gets paid by getting information about this girl he fell in love with. Eventually Edward’s work pays off
To begin with, the physical appearance of Edward, black leather, scarred face, sad eyes, and sharp scissor hands, compared with the bright coloured clothes of the other residents of the town show us how alienated Edward looks from the rest of the society that he lives in. On the contrary, Gilbert’s alienation stems from something different: his brother Arnie. The town of Endora that the Grape family live in, do not offer any sympathy or help, instead they mock them and treat them as outcasts. Lastly, closer inspection reveals that while the two characters appear very different, there are similarities that do exist in their characteristics and surroundings. Both the town Gilbert lives in, and the town in which Edward lives are small, and gossip travels fast.
It is said when Edward was young, he read every book he could find in Ashland and quickly become one of the brightest minds in the town. After escaping the unnamed town, He decides he needs to further his education and attends Auburn University. While pursuing academics at Auburn, he falls in love with Sandra Templeton – “the most beautiful woman in the town of Auburn” (840). He soon found out that another man, Don Price, has already asked for Sandra's hand in marriage, but that did not weaken Edward's pursuit of her. He would follow her around to find any excuse to interact with her. This shows his
Edward is quickly accepted, and conformed, by society when he proves to be useful, still the women become bored and vilify Edward to create a more entertaining situation. In doing this, Edward is alienated for the same reasons he was originally warmly welcomed. Burton uses exaggeration to illustrate the exploitation and misunderstanding commonly experienced by “outsiders”.
A man of brown eyes. golden locks and a charming smile was loved by those who met him throughout his life his name was Edward Cullen. Edward has an ecstatic life full of love and laughter one may say it was perfect life. From the night that was going to change his life forever to the night that became what ended it all together. He was about to go wit Winter his future fiance and express his love t her when it all happened. He took a wrong turn that unfotunately ended it all, he crashed and the car flipped over and over and over until it stopped ending his life instantly.
Edward’s costume consists of black leather, buckles, scissors and a crazy hair do. This makes him look gothic and machine-like. But when Peg sees him she looks past this and feels pity for him being alone in a mansion. We also see Edward stiff and awkward, unlike how you would picture his personality based on his costume. The perfect colourful neighbourhood is also not not what you think as shown by Peg when we see a close up of her annoyed expression, caused by her fellow neighbours.
He, on the outside, is Bella's knight in shining armor, even driving a shiny Volvo (Meyer 14). He is handsome, rich, a perfect “prince” for the delicate “princess” Bella. However, Edward is really far from being the “hero”. Putting aside the fact that he is a vampire, Edward is nothing more than a controlling, insulting, obsessive man. For example, Bella walking in the direction of her car after Edward rescues her, when “something caught my jacket, yanking me back. “Where do you think you're going?” he asked, outraged. He was gripping a fistful of my jacket in one hand” (Meyer 103). Edward doesn't stop, but pushes, forces and even commands Bella into his car. He even goes as far as threatening to “just drag you back”, should she attempt to escape (Meyer 104). So, what does Bella do, she simply goes along with this (Meyer 105). This brutal force of will comes from a character that is supposed to every teen girls “crush”. This twisted version of an ideal guy, only strengthens the book's sexist implication that a woman is nothing more than an object that must be controlled by a man, to young impressible teen
Both Elinor and Marianne get their hearts broken by the men they loved. In the beginning, Elinor meets a man named Edward Ferrars and the two immediately click almost like they were meant for one another. They soon face troubles when they find out others don’t find them good enough for each other. Marianne tells Elinor that she finds Edward too dull, while Edwards’s mother doesn’t approve of them being together. Putting others aside, the feelings between them begin to grow and we start to question if they are falling in love. Eventually, Elinor and her family end up moving to Barton Cottage, causing things with Edward to become complicated. They begin to communicate less, and Marianne finds it strange that Edward had not came to visit Elinor yet.
