Hello, I am Stephanie Walker, the only woman on our team. We were training for such a long time to prepare for this project and I am so proud that we make it. Our project, this fantastic project, has a wonderful name – Project Artemis. Our goal, simply to say is to place radio telescopes on the far side of the moon, but we know, it is not simply. As project Apollo is the only successful manned space mission to the moon, our plan will reference a lot of it, but of course not the same, because the mission goal is different and the technologies nowadays is far more developing than that time. We anticipate that this mission will be more successful and that we will be able to find techniques to maneuver or reduce the potential challenges that are essentially brought in by the known and unknown events across the space. To make our project more viable, we had observed the earlier pictures that were taken by the Deep Space Climate Observatory. The images are rare as the satellite only takes them twice a year, some of the images that have been successfully sent to earth revealed that, from the vantage point of earth we only see one side of the moon [1]. There is the lunar transit part of the moon that cannot be seen while observing it from earth. It is the back side of the moon, scientist Adam Szabo, the lunar transit is very different from what we observed or rather the moon’s familiar face [2].
Human have curious about the far side of moon for centuries since
while women in world sports are often being misjudged. Male- dominant sports culture often come from the way women in society are viewed. (Brittney Griner leads men and women in the big twelve.) “It’s not how big you are it’s how big you play”. Female sports are highly underestimated. Watch and support women's sports because they work just as hard as the men teams do. “It’s as though the producers and commentators are thinking, ‘If we can't say anything sexist, then we can't say anything at all about women's sports”. Networks struggle to understand how much trouble these female athletes go through, just for there gender let alone being a athlete.
The moon is by far the biggest and most easily recognizable object in earth’s atmosphere that can be perceived by the naked eye on a cloudless night. It is hypothesized that it came into existence nearly 4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth. Although, considered the runner-up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is deceitful, insomuch as the moon is not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun’s illumination from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. More readily identified as a satellite of the earth rather than as a planet itself or even a star, it has a diameter a quarter of the size of earth’s size and it
Have you ever considered that the moon may not be exactly what it seems to be? Science says that the moon was a result of the Earth colliding with another planet, causing a rocky mass to break free from the earth and be pulled into orbit by the force of gravity. Conspiracy theorists have considered the possibility that the moon may be something more than just a rocky mass orbiting the earth. A theory that has been created regarding our moon is called The Hollow Moon Theory. This theory tries to prove that the moon may just be a cover or a protective layer around an alien's UFO. It may be hard for some to go against scientific research, but there is a possibility that something other than a collision is responsible for the formation of our moon.
The articles, “Title IX Under Fire As Colleges Cut Teams” by Jean Marbella and Carrie Wells and “40 Years Later, Title IX Is Still Fighting Perception It Hurts Men’s Sports” by Gloria Goodale, share different viewpoints on Title IX. Marbella and Wells share details and statistics showing that men’s teams are sometimes cut in order to meet Title IX’s requirements. However, Goodale counters that the reasons for the teams being cut was not Title IX, but the budgets of the university. She explains that Title IX is being framed for these incidents (Goodale). Goodale and Marbella and Wells argue two different viewpoints on the Title IX.
I read the article called “ Women's Lacrosse Players Lost Their Collage, Not their Team.” This article is about the lacrosse team at Dowling College. The team was ranked top ten in the country and it finished 17-4. It tells you about how they handled this problem. They handled this problem because of the coach. She was offered a job opportunity and she took it. The administrator at at New York Institute of Technology wanted to start a girls lacrosse team and offered they job to the coach. She wanted to bring the whole team with her and two of her assistant coaches. She always put her players before her.
The topic of wearing a helmet for during women’s lacrosse games is controversial. In this sport, women only wear goggles. Recently, athletic companies have designed helmets, that are similar to bicycle helmets with attached goggles. Despite sustaining a concussion in early December, I am opposed to wearing a helmet for multiple reasons.
The female Softball coach that I interviewed was Coach Schroeder. I met her while volunteering for the sports medicine at Consumes. I think she is a great coach, she was runner up at the national champion game where they came one game short she even had stints with coaching and playing on the division 1 level. Moving on we talked about ethic issues with within the sports realm. The first thing I asked Coach Schroeder was what she thought on title IX and the impact. Here is that her thoughts were on Title IX and how it would be beneficial. She says if you make more room for women in the sports industry they will come because you’re giving them a great shot to be a successful leader and contributor which is really great. But she felt that
“Heyboer, you’re at first. Head on out there.” As my coach said that, my nerves started rushing up my back. I was at Bicentennial park with my dad and my softball team for our last softball game of the summer. I was so nervous. Tension grew and my heart was about to burst out of my chest.
Major League Baseball is a baseball league exclusively for men, but there is a lack of diversity inside a lot of the baseball team organizations there is a lack of women in the front offices. The Chicago Cubs has never had a woman as vice president but they do have woman, Laura Ricketts, as a co-owner of the team. The Cubs haven’t won a world series in a very long time and I feel for them to become a contender, they must start by reassembling their front office staff. I personally been around a lot of women that had strong knowledge in sports especially baseball. The organization should look for women that have a strong knowledge in managing accounts because a lot of problems with organizations is managing their salary caps, which could be
“I’m sorry Larry, but she’s wasn’t good enough to make the team.” This is the phone call my dad received when I was a 7th grader. He comes in and tells me and he sees how I break when he tells me it. I am not playing junior varsity softball. This may seem insignificant, but to me this was huge. A sixth grader made it to junior varsity over me. I was told that I wasn’t good enough. I was told that I’d never be a championship pitcher. I remember when I was seven or so when we were losing a game on my first softball team. There was three of us pitchers. The first was hurt, and the second was too tired to keep pitching accurately. The coach looks around the dugout and asks, “She is getting tired. Who can we put in?” His eyes hover over me and anticipate that I might be going in the game. The coach looks over me and decides that the pitcher that is physically drained should stay in the game over me, who is still full of energy and ready to go in. I started thinking, was I not good enough for him? Was I a failure to the team? Was I even useful?
It was a little difficult to pick an event with my busy schedule and everything. I finally picked one though; it ended up being a female soccer game. The reason I choice this one is because I don’t really like watching sports, except paintball. Unfortunately, AUM doesn’t have a paintball team, and I didn’t want to watch men running around in shorts. The other reason I choice this event it was it at the home field, so I wouldn’t have to drive a distance to see it.
Ever since I was seven years old playing t-ball I dreamed of playing high school softball. Every year I waited not so patiently for the season to start. My junior year in high school I was the second basemen for my school softball team. That year my team and I were more determined than ever to get our team to the state finals. Before the state tournament we had to win conference, sectionals, and super sectionals. My junior year my team and I had our hearts set on being the first team in Somonauk history to ever win to the state championship.
Over 400 Division I men’s athletic teams have been disbanded from existence since the inception of Title IX. Title IX, implemented in 1972, “is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.” (Keating) Title IX has achieved great success with women’s sports since the inception and the number of females in sports is six times greater since the inception of Title IX (diversity.siu.edu). Although it has had great strides with women, it is disadvantaging men, especially in athletics. Title IX requires that colleges give the same amount of scholarships to women as they do men. On paper, this seems to be a great idea, but the consequences were never taken into consideration and caused tremendous problems. In order to give the same amount of scholarships to men and women and be compliant with Title IX, men’s athletic teams have been cut in the process. Men losing the opportunity to receive scholarships for their respective sport at a college of their choice and sports teams getting cut is an issue that needs to be solved. Men’s sports teams cannot keep on being cut, for there are ways in which Title IX must be enhanced to benefit everyone. The problems of men’s athletic teams being cut can be solved by reducing outrageous spending, add women’s programs, and give more control to colleges.
Women. Men. They are both a unique and special being that is on earth. In a perfect society, men and women would have the same physical strength and they would be completely equal. The idea of women and men being able to play against each other is wonderful but realistically it might not work out as great. Of course, women can do anything men can do, but in a competitive situation like this, the results of this change could bring forth more negative impacts than positive ones. In professional sports, women and men should be kept separate due to being biologically different and because of the possibility of the quality of the performances in the sports decreasing.
Women have always been the minority in the world even today: that is in the work force or even in sports. Title IX, an act that was made by the United States Congress in 1972, said that no one should be denied to play, receive financial aid, or discriminate to any education program or activity that pertains to only one sex (Senne 1). This act was a step towards improving female participation and lessening discrimination, but the stereotypes that most of society believes in still exist. This is one of the main reasons why women are discriminated when it comes to sports; by limited payroll, limited media coverage, and stereotypes.
