I have grown as a global citizen and as a student. I've grown as a student in knowledge and I've grown as a global citizen in communicating with others. There are many ways I've grown in those areas, but I will just be talking about some of them. In most of my classes there is a way I've grown as a student or as a global citizen. In my biology class I've grown as a student. In my English class I've grown as a global citizen. I have grown as a student in the area of knowledge. Before this semester I didn't know, like what the phases were like prophase, etc. I didn't really understand math, even though it was my favorite subject. I didn't understand like how some of the equations worked. I would forget some of the equations. Some stuff I didn't understand was like graphing four equations and shading a specific side, I would get confused. My cell division booklet is evidence of my growth …show more content…
Before this semester I wouldn't really talk to anyone except like my friends. I would do my own work and would sometimes talk to my partner because I needed help. I'm really shy so I don't really like talking with new people. Now I communicate with people because I have group projects and for that there has to be communication with each other. I also communicate with my partner because sometimes we have assignments that have to be done with your classmate. My Romeo and Juliet play is evidence of my growth. It is a play for our English class that was seen by about 100 people. There are two days for it, one is on Wednesday, May 13,2015 and Thursday, May 14,2015. It is a really good play and we are working really hard on it so it can come out good. I communicate with most of the people because we need to work together to be able to finish this play in time and make sure it's good for the day it's going to be presented. I try to communicate with everyone to see what we still need and to see who still needs
Global Citizenship & Equity at Centennial College: Global citizenship refers to the social well- being of various communities and its main focus is to minimize inequity which means try to protect our surroundings and don’t harm others. Global citizens support equity at all levels local as well as globally. In equity we have to change different strategy not only changes the version of current strategy to ensure equity.
I also grew as a global citizen by taking action in my English class with my immigration activism project. I don’t think it’s a skill but I did learn how to interact with random people and not give a bad first impression when speaking about the concern that our group had. In this
We have been in school for the past thirteen years of our lives, seven hours a day five days a week. We have gotten to know more of our teachers personal life than our parents, we know each other better than our family members. We have all learned a great deal of complicated math, english, history, and science but for some odd and interesting reason all i can remember is that a2 +b2=c2 and that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. It could be because i repeated the pythagorean theorem five times before i took my test or because Ms. Senneseth was a great teacher. Even though our general classes were fun the two years i was in color guard were very exciting i learned knew things about myself like the fact that i am flexible and that
Talking to people or asking for help is one of the most difficult things for me to do. Most of the time, I try to avoid any eye contact, but sometimes, I need to. My plan is to warm up to new people slowly, starting with the tennis team and then with people in the clubs I join. I talk to some of the varsity players during practice, but I hope that I become closer to them because we are a team, but I also hope to communicate with the junior varsity team, since I do play matches with them. This year, I want to join several clubs, such as key club because the people look friendly. Future Michelle, I hope you joined clubs and are able to talk to the upperclassmen more. Once I accomplish this goal, the skill of being able to communicate will help me in many parts of my future. It is not a difficult goal to accomplish, unlike this final goal of
In article “Beyond Borders: What It Means to Be a Global Citizen”, Drew Noble Alexander states the meaning of being a global citizen. He says that we are all born as global citizens, and we can choose to contribute to the world or passively deny the trend. Alexander thinks becoming a contributing “global citizen” requires a wide view of world and experiences from different cultures. Also, he notes modern people face more severe challenges than others, so they need features like “critical thinking skills, a level of self-awareness and confidence” to work collaboratively and creatively. Furthermore, Alexander writes about his teaching experiences in different regions in the world, realizing that features needed to become a contributing
The knowledge then expanded in an Advanced Placement Chemistry class. In physics I did a project on nuclear fusion. The paper discussed concepts of nuclear physics never taught to me. I worked hard to grasp the difficult theories, and my grades exhibit dedication to furthering this competence.
Everybody has concepts that they are good at and others that are hard to grasp. During this semester, I started off being very repetitive with my
As I reflect on what I have learned and what it means to be a citizen today I have so many different thoughts. Before I took political science I would say that I did not know much about what it actually meant to be a citizen but now I have more of a complete understanding. The first actually to practice the notion of citizenship were the ancient Greek city states (Bellamy pg.2). Which was an idea that most countries adapted over the years. A citizen is a member in society and participates with other members within that community (Bellamy pg.16).
The social skills of students are key when it comes to understanding how to interact with their fellow classmates and even adults such as teachers. Ms. Shipman used a great example when role playing to improve her students ability to interact with others. This idea of role playing has help her students practice how to talk to tother without fear of rejection. Ms. Shipman will give feedback to her students on how to improve their social interaction as the practices goes on. Some of Ms. Shipman feedback would be stop tapping the pincer on the desk or even something as simple as how to make eye contact with a person who is talking. The small actions others take for granted in social areas need to be thought by Ms.
The United States a glorious country. It was founded on July 4th, 1776 in Philadelphia; it declared its independence on that day with the Declaration of Independence. A few years later during the year of 1796, the first 10 amendments were ratified. However, it wasn’t until July 28th, 1868 that the 14th amendment was ratified; it declared such that all persons who were born within the United States or naturalized will automatically be granted the title of citizenship. Though, what exactly does it mean to be a citizen? How does it tie to the right to vote; maybe even the critical issues that are faced today due to this?
To practice how to communicate with strangers, I started to have a first try of a summer job to take care child in Youth work Program. In order, I had no experience in how to communicate with my mentor or other staff members. So I was very quiet and shy to remain modest and prudent, but I thought I did my job perfectly, until the day my mentor became angry because I did not tell her I switched the schedule of my job. She told me that society is not like school or home, because you always need to work and communicate with strangers, otherwise no one can help you. After the talk with my mentor, I listened to the opinions of others and learned how to communicate with adults. So i decided to figure out what interests or experience we had in common to create topics of discussion with other staff. I asked for help from my mentor when I met difficulties. For example, I did not know how to feel child’s emotion. Therefore, my mentor and staff shared their own personal experience and stories to how to solve the problem. At the same time. I noticed that communication became easier to understand others and made me self confident. To get more closer with my mentor and staffs I shared food with them to build
If I didn’t know the students in my group I wouldn’t want to communicate as much.
Now that I have completed my first semester of senior year, I feel like I have grown as an academic student and as a global citizen in many ways. However, I feel that the career hierarchy with Ms. Burnett has helped me grow as an academic student the most and the Rally in the Valley has helped me grow as a Global citizen the most.
I think I am global citizen because I can take into consider other cultures and religion. I feel like the world is my country, and humankinds are my brethren regardless of a religion and race.
The rapid advancement of society in recent years has greatly increased connectivity and communication capabilities across the globe, such as the development of the worldwide network known as the Internet. The increased connectedness between countries has also brought greater visibility to the substantial cultural differences around the world, from religious freedoms to accepted social behaviors. This global expansion has furthered the opportunity to promote the development of global citizenship, which Reysen and Katzarska-Miller (2013) defined as the embrace of cultural diversity through awareness, acceptance, and the promotion of social justice and responsibility. Global citizenship allows individuals from many cultural backgrounds to develop productive relationships by decreasing the tensions brought on by cultural differences, as well as promoting open sharing of contrasting views to develop better ideas as a group (Wang & Hoffman, 2016). Becoming a global citizen is essential to furthering societal development, improving cross-cultural communication, and promoting awareness and acceptance of different cultures.
