Once we are born, our parents bestow upon us a given name that distinguishes us from others. My parents named me Allison but most people just call me Allie. For this scholarship, I plan to tell you my life story by including my involvement, my interests, and my financial concerns. My life is quite simple. The only place I have ever lived in is the small city of Seguin, Texas. I have a sister, Sara, who is currently a freshman this year. I attend Navarro High School where I am involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, Interact Club, Photography Club, Varsity Volleyball, Basketball, and Tennis. I also commit my time to volunteer services in efforts to better the community. Some service projects that I have volunteered at are Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Blue Santa, Navarro Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament, Bike Rotary, and multiple trash pick-ups. Along with living in a small town, I believe these athletic, academic, and volunteer services have shaped me to be the person I am today. As a result, I have learned time management skills and how to represent myself. I truly believe that this has had a positive impact on my character. …show more content…

Ever since I was a kid, it has been my life goal to help as many people I can. As an athlete, I have been in and out of the physical therapist’s office for a majority of my life. Each time I have went I could not help but be beyond grateful for what these people have done for me; they have given me the ability to play the sport I love despite all the hiccups. Life can change in a split second when an unanticipated injury or disease hinders someone’s normal daily life. Modern medicine, physicians and families can only do so much but physical therapy can help recoup the life many of us take for granted. It often isn’t until we lose something that we as humans realize what we had such as the value of our body’s ability to take us through each day. A physical therapist is the person who stays with a patient for the duration of the rehabilitation process. A physical therapist leads the patient through the process of regaining physical strength and helps the patient regain control of their future. Much like many careers that involve interaction with individuals, physical therapy reaches beyond
My experience also enabled me to understand how an individual’s mentality, anatomy, and body movements can contribute to the overall progress of healing as it requires a lot of patience and motivation. Therefore, pursuing a degree in Kinesiology would be my greatest desire as I want to help individuals heal through methods of physical movements and because I believe it encompasses two of my favourite subjects, science and physical education. Throughout my experience in high school, my interest in health and physical activities has only grown stronger. As an illustration, over the past four years, I have been involved in various sports such as the varsity girl’s soccer team, varsity girl’s flag football team, and badminton
As a result, I have suffered several minor injuries, including a concussion that required treatment. I have seen many orthopedic doctors and physical therapists over the years and had the opportunity to volunteer and later work with PT Solutions, a physical therapy clinic while in high school. All of my experiences with these medical professionals sparked my interest in pursuing a career in medicine. My goal is to one day become an orthopedic surgeon and focus on treating athletes. This career combines my passion for helping others and working alongside athletes. While this goal will take time to accomplish, I believe my investment in the Athletic Training program at UGA will allow me the opportunity to do what I love for a
Now, I was the one who was able to develop treatment plans for patients. I loved being able to help my athletes reach their goals and return to play. Although there were aspects of Athletic Training that I enjoyed, I found that there were other parts of the profession that I did not like, especially acting as a first responder at athletic events. At my clinical rotations, I often found myself thinking about working as a physical therapist. My injury opened my eyes to a profession I had never considered before.
When I broke my Tibia and Fibula playing football my sophomore year of high school, I started to really think about what I wanted to do with my life. I had a lot of love for playing football, and I knew that I did not want to stray too far away from the sport. It wasn’t until I started going to physical therapy that I realized that I didn’t have to, so I decided that I wanted to be a physical therapist, to help other people get back on their feet. However, my junior year, we got a new athletic trainer at my high school. So, I decided to ask Mrs. Pam if she would mind if I shadowed her, to learn more about what she did, and how to help other players with their injuries. She agreed, and I spent my junior and seniors years shadowing her. I learned

My goal in life is to help people be the best they can be through physical fitness and wellness.
Sports have developed many of my social skills needed throughout life in today's society. I believe my discipline outside has developed well because of the discipline I had to learn while playing sports. I believe that sports related to different parts of my life such as music and pharmacy. Both of these areas of my life required me to devote huge amount of time that would normally devote to a sport to become the best I can be. I suffered injuries and joint conditions that did not allow me to play certain sports in high school such as football and basketball. I missed a huge amount of opportunities to play sports in high school. Ever since then, I have always looked up information on ways to manage and prevent further injury. I wanted to learn more information on ways to help others who are at risk and those who suffer from injuries. In the future, I plan to involve sports in my life as a career. They have Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, speech an language pathology, audiology, autism services and aquatics where they work with many people all with different medical conditions. Being that I am pursuing the career of Physical therapy I stayed mainly with Anne and Patty to learn as much as I could about their field.
