Would you recommend this production for others to see?
Yes I would. As a play, Bull presents a true picture of what the adult world is like. The entire play is set up in a way that it relates to the deep inward feelings of the audience. It shows how the weak are preyed on by the strong, and the director and the actors showcase exactly how bullying in the adult world and the workplace takes place. The fact that it presents a scenario that anyone can relate to – as a bully or a victim – makes it very emotional. As such, its relatable theme makes it a play that everyone would like love to watch, despite the fact that it may bring out contrasting reactions from different personalities.
Overall reaction to the show:
The play is rather extraordinary; brilliant writing by Mike Bartlett, and amazing directing and performances by the cast as well. The storyline has some great twists and turns that keeps the audience excited, and when a particular scenario progresses into a state that one really did not expect, it heightens the excitement, thereby resulting in quite the thrill.
Why do you feel that this is an accurate evaluation of the production you saw? Justify your reaction:
It exposes some aspects that the society would rather shy away from and those things that people generally do not feel comfortable to face or discuss. Bullying is part of everyday life, but people deny and probably do not know how to deal with it. This is more so the situation in the adult world. The playwright
I enjoyed this production and would definitely watch another play written by this playwright. The Lovesong play helped me to realize that in relationships you will have ups and downs, but you should make every day count. An abundance of feelings were felt throughout this play sadness, joy, happiness, grievance, and curiosity. In the end life doesn’t always go as you may have planned it, so you should enjoy the time you have with others, make memories, and love
Christopher Durang has put a lot of dark humor into this play for us to see different sides of everything. From not hearing about things that we do in our regular life to bringing those to the light of everything. With this it's different from other plays it humor on very twisted situation that should be
Sadly when I arrived at the theater I was not even sure I would be able to focus on the show, for my mother who was meant to see this production with me yet was unable to. Due to unforeseeable circumstances that neither one of us could for see and so with all of this hanging over head I was really hoping to get a laugh from this play, which it did. This was not the first time that I had come to see a play at Boise Little Theater, but definitely this was the first time that I had done it on my own. Which was a tad
Knowing we would only get about fifteen minutes with each set of characters kept me on the edge of my seat begging them to get their happy ending before time ran out. This unique dimension of the play was so different than anything I had ever experienced watching any other performance and the actors embraced it beautifully.
Overall it held my attention. The comedy injected into this play allowed for the more poignant messages to be driven home. I could relate to the respective arguments of the two men. It makes you
The beginning of the play was very interesting in several ways. Firstly, the choice of dialect took me surprise because of its vulgar nature. I personally enjoyed the use of speech because I find it interesting when people use words freely when they are normally looked down upon. The music that was played gave made another strong impression on me. The title of the song was Bonfire by Childish Gambino, and it set a very interesting mood. It definitely took me by surprise and I did not know how to react in that situation. I just stared with my mouth open and tried to figure out why that song was being played. Another thing that I found interesting was when the actors put makeup and different clothes on in front of us. Seeing the actors start changing into new characters right in front of me made me very intrigued about how people can break the socially constructed ideas of how theatre works.
Seeing the performance live was great. There were many different aspects that would not have been seen if the play was read. Something unique about the performance was the stage directions and Acts/scenes being set up by the characters. Also, the characters were introduced by other characters. This aspect was a great addition to the performance, the audience was introduced to what was going on rather than jumping into the performance. The Diner was spectacular and very detailed, it brought to life the set. The cast only consisted of one woman, similar to August Wilson play Fences. This is interesting because there are many different perspectives of African American men, but only one perspective of the African American woman. This can hinder
In conclusion, I thought this play was a great choice for me to see at the theatre. I was glad I went to see it because it made me realize that your opinion doesn’t have to be the most popular opinion. I need to stand up for what I believe in and that is what this play taught me. I do prefer a comedy over a tragedy and I am upset with the ending but I cannot complain because I enjoyed this play very
I knew the actors could show their sense of comedy and wit from the first play and I was eager to see how they would carry out the dismal aspects this show. This production was a drastic change in the cast’s acting abilities, but they presented the production extraordinarily well. This was the first live production of the written story I have seen and I have faith that they did a superb job at depicting the insanity that Robert Louis
I truly loved reading this play. The characters are humorous, and the exchanges between them are constantly interesting. One of my favorite parts was when Kathy insinuated for the men to behave, then Mick teasingly replies saying “Yes, Mother.” The
The use of drama, comedy and violence in scenes were alternated abrubtly, it wasn't easy to watch and it left me unsure about what the play was about and its message to the audience.
The actors in the play were very remarkable and true to their roles. Each actor was cohesive in portraying realistic and natural emotions as well as humor in the play. There was a particular scene in the play that was very emotional, causing me to tear up. In this scene, Gladys is sitting in her kitchen crying, feeling lost and confused about her own existence. Not only was this scene emotionally touching, but it helps the audience to connect with the characters on an emotional level. The comedy in the play consisted of satire and was effective in keeping the audience interested and entertained throughout the play, with lots of laughter. The acting certainly contributed to the goal of the play, making it a successful
Something I really liked about the play was the way the author put dialogue it made the play have humor in it. For example when he put “kathy: oh yes please do go on. It's all so interesting about rocks and all” I thought it was funny because she really didn't want to know more about rocks.
It was very interesting compared to some of the other productions I’ve seen. Understanding that it wasn’t a full-length play, but it was still done very well. I especially enjoyed “Narrators Gone Bad.” I felt it was very insightful. A lot of people don’t realize or understand the detail and time and effort that goes into storytelling. I enjoyed it. They did an excellent job and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t realize there were so many different ways to tell a story, but it makes sense. If you don’t tell a story with enthusiasm or in a tone that pertains to the story, it won’t be as enjoyable or exciting. Stories can be told in many different places, in school, in your home, they can be told anywhere in the world, and it’s
Overall, I thought the performance was thoroughly enjoyable. The actors, scenery, costumes, and music all came together to create a memorable show. The production had a light, comedic feel at times, and a sad, melancholy tone in others. The play showcases the harsh reality of relationships, that they are not always as happy and carefree as you would believe. In the end, Robert and the audience come to the realization that even though relationships and marriages can be tough, sometimes it is worth it to have someone special in your life. The play ends with Robert still single, but he has a more positive outlook on his life, perhaps he is now ready to get married if the right woman comes along in his
