If I Stay by Gayle Forman If I Stay, written by Gayle Forman, is an amazing book! When I read the back cover of If I Stay, I knew it was the right book for me, because I can relate to what has happened to the main characters and the feelings of other family members and friends. The family was in a car accident, and as you know from reading my other papers, my 16 year old brother was in a car accident in March. The feelings that were displayed in the book are very similar to the feelings my family and I had regarding my brother. At times we were very unsure of what would happen. Mia Hall, who is one of the most important main characters, is seventeen years old, plays the cello, and is mostly a quiet person. Mia loves classical …show more content…
Mia can see everything going on around her but can’t physically feel it and she can go wherever she wants. She can hear everything that others are saying but when she speaks, she makes no noise, and the other people can’t see her. Mia has to decide if she wants to fight for her life and have the grief of losing her family every day or if she wants to join them. Mia realizes Teddy is dead when her Grandparents show up and are both with her, she knows they wouldn’t leave Teddy alone. Adam tries to get into the intensive care unit but is unable because he isn’t immediate family. Adam gets special permission to see Mia and wants her to realize he hasn’t left her and is still there for her. Adam says to her, “Just listen….stay,” and Mia forces all the strength she has left in her body to squeeze his hand. Adam knows then that she will be okay. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good book that keeps you wondering “what will happen next?” I loved the book; I could relate to some of it and never wanted to put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if Mia would decide to “stay” or not. Gayle Forman has a sequel to If I Stay, called, Where She Went, it is written in Adam’s point of view three years after the accident. Adam and Mia go their separate way, but I plan on reading it very soon! I want to know what happened next and why Adam and Mia decided to end the
As I helplessly watch my fifteen year old roommate fall to pieces in front of me, I feel everything around me slow to a crawl. Blood pounds my ear drums, I feel the color drain from my cheeks, and my feet take me forward as if they have a mind of their own. I fall to my knees and suddenly everything speeds up again – the pounding in my ear drums intensifies, my hands are trembling but I manage to grasp the side of the bed in an attempt to bring myself close to her. Her face is buried into her sheet. Muffled screaming escapes her as I whisper gentle reassurances in her ear, hoping with everything I have that she can hear me. I know she doesn’t. Even if she does, she can’t make sense of it right now. She’s stuck somewhere else, somewhere she revisits every day of her life and every time she closes her eyes to sleep.
My book, Gabi A Girl in Pieces, followed the story of Gabi Hernandez, who struggles to find her place in the world. Gabi lives with a unique Mexican-American family, including a religious fat-shaming mother, a very undisciplined brother, and a deadbeat dad. Along with her aunt with commitment issues, Gabi fights to finish her senior year with her hectic life. The only thing that keeps her going is poetry, her love for food, and her
The story starts out when Emily and her parents were picking up Navin, they got into a car accident. Karen, David, and Emily would have survived the accident, but David did not
Not knowing how her mother would feel Mia crept downstairs and out the doors. When she got outside she was greeted by her brother, sister, dad, and her boyfriend. At the bowling alley, Mia and Erik were in teams against Tara and Johnny and then Jeremih switched with Tara. They played multiple rounds until it was time to go eat. Mia's team had won against Tara's team in bowling. After the game, they went to this nice five-star establishment. For an hour they eat, talked, and laughed at some good memories and new memories.
Mia see how to Kim start an argument with her mother, after that Kim leaves her in the waiting room and go to the ICU to see Mia, but she saw Mia´s family and she go to a little chapel while her mother is talking with the family.
I look over at Caleb and see that he is unconscious, with blood rolling down his forehead from a shard of glass that hit him when the back windows exploded. Suddenly I hear a loud scream. Sirens, making a noise so blood curdling, like a symphony of women screaming at the top of their lungs. It reminds me of that day when I was eight, except this time it’s my brother who I am hoping is okay, not Tina, who I knew wasn’t going to make it.
What would you choose? Would you stay or go? Well, that's what Mia is facing. Mia is a 17 year old cello player who had an audition to Juilliard, a rock star boyfriend, a future ahead of her. That was until she was in a car accident. Now she has lost her mom, dad, and brother. She doesn't know whether to stay or go at this point. The main character's in the book is Mia, Adam(Mia's boyfriend), Kim(Mia's best friend), Mia’s mom, dad, brother Teddy, and her gramps. Although there are major differences between the book and the movie, each equally enjoyable. For various reasons I like the book and the movie equally because it shows the relationships with the characters differently.
Brief summary of the plot. I rarely read a book that is almost impossible to put down, but the book I chose for this is for sure one of those books. The book that I chose to write my independent novel about is a book titled “When You Were Mine” by Rebecca Serle. The book is about a girl, she is a senior in high school and her name is Rosaline Capulet. She has three best friends, Olivia and Charlie are her girl best friends.

My name is Jivon Julien and the book I have chosen to read this Summer is “Gabi, A Girl In Pieces” written by Isabel Guintero.I personally enjoyed this book because of the everyday life situations that take place thru out the book.
The supplementary text that I chose from the summer reading list is “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman. This novel is about a girl whose name is Mia, that gets into a car accident. This car accident is so severe that Mia’s parents and brother died and left Mia in a coma. While Mia is in a coma, she has to decide whether or not to live. It is a choice that can change Mia’s life. She can either finish everything there or continue to live on.
In the novel, If I Stay by Gayle Forman, 17 year-old Mia Hall’s life is changed after she gets into a terrible car accident. Before the accident she had a wonderful family, boyfriend, best friend, and a career ahead of her in music. Mia and her boyfriend were both musicians and they collected records. Although her life wasn't as wonderful as it seemed. Mainly because she felt out of place in her family. She looks different and her family is “cool” when she is not. One day, the family was driving on the snowy road when all of a sudden they crashed. Mia’s whole family is killed except for her, in which she was is in a coma. While in the coma, Mia had many flashbacks remembering the highlights of her life. Throughout the coma Mia felt like
After the accident Mia had an out-of-body experience and saw her family on the road dead. She walks over and saw a trail of pieces that happened to be her dads brain. She next she’s her mom there on the floor barely any blood her eyes were red shot and purple lips. She then starts to panic looking for her brother teddy In my opinion “If I stay” is such a great book.
After reading If I Stay, I find the book really interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family who are interested in drama and who are very cautious in their
