I would like to thank you and the Department Chairs for taking the time to consider my independent study on architecture, and I understand that you have decided not to approve it for next year. However, it is a course that is very important to me, and it is one that I believe would greatly enhance my education and experience at Bentley. I understand that the AP Art History class spends a lot of time studying architecture and design. However, I feel that in my independent study I was hoping to not only get a strong idea of the principals of design and study what makes a good building, but actual hands on experience in designing my own space. I feel that same hands on experience may not appear in the AP Art History class. Before I had the idea to create the independent study, I was initially thinking about taking AP Studio Art to delve deeper into the principals of design. However, I realized that the two subjects, although related, were very different. I believe that while …show more content…
I understand that it is possible for me to have an internship with an architecture firm in order to get to know the field better, but I would not be able to get the hands on experience that I want and that I feel this independent study would provide me. I am at the point where I believe that in order to move forward with my passion for architecture I need to be in a place with the guidance of someone who has a very good understanding of the principals of design (Ms. Steele) where I can test out my own creative ideas that I have been formulating. I feel that the best way I can do that now is in my independent study where I can learn about this field through trial and error while learning about how to compose a beautiful and practical
The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of anger management training, specifically, with adolescent males with conduct disorder (Gliner, Harmon, & Morgan, 2000).
Despite the demands, I believe that the positives outweigh the negatives and I still want to pursue this field. Mr. Barber said that thinking on the fly is one of the most difficult parts of his job that he struggles with in his day-to-day work. He also said that people skills are a very important part of this job. You need to know how to communicate efficiently and effectively, or entire projects can fall apart, which adds an immense amount of stress to the job. One last point that is challenging about becoming an architect is all the training. Most architects need 5 years of college, and must undergo a tremendous amount of after college training that is very rigorous and challenging. At first the thought of all this training scared me a little bit, but then I remembered the picture of the kids in Africa at the hospital, and that gave me the desire to continue in this dream of mine. I know that pursuing this field will be challenging, but I believe it will be worth it in the end. If I sincerely wish to pursue this field I need to come up with a plan of action. First, I would like to do some research over the summer, and hopefully find a summer course on architecture. Mr. Barber also recommended to do more shadowing. In fact, he sent me the contact info for a few firms here in town. I believe that this would give me a solid background in
Art history so far has such an impact on everyday life it would be no surprise that it will surely play a part in my day to day life along with my studies even without recognizing it. For majors at this point I am taking art along with criminal justice. Obviously art history will surely impact my art classes, for you need to know genre, design, format, and style. All things that can apply to any artist's work and any types of medium. As for criminal justice I had to do some research, I conjured up that the FBI maintains a twelve-person art crime team which investigates art thefts and frauds, they also have forensic artist which are highly-trained specialists that are experts in the reconstruction of crime scenes, bone structure, and witness descriptions of criminals.
Gather three sentences from a variety of residency sources and write an analytical comment about the aesthetic achievement of each of the sentences.
The usage of cell phones is steadily increasing over the years, especially by teenagers. As statics has shown, teenagers use their phones approximately 7.5 hours. They tend to rely on their cells phones as their means of communication, instead of having a face-to-face conversation. Learning about all this information, I choose to run my own naturalistic observational study on this topic. The study I decided to do is which gender in the teenage age range tends to use their phones more often when they are with others compared to when they are alone. The hypothesis I had was that teenage females tend to use their phones more than teenage males. Yet after the study was completed, my hypothesis was proven wrong. It was shown that males tend to use
Independence to me is the freedom to make my choices and take full accountability of the choices I make. I first realized my true independence in the summer of 2014 when I had the opportunity to spend two full months in Stockholm, Sweden visiting family. I had never before traveled by myself outside the tristate area, and let alone to Sweden. The reasons I wanted to travel to Sweden were mainly to see family, embrace new cultures, getting out of my comfort zone, and gain a new perspective in life.
The personality trait I chose was independent. I chose this because I believe in finding a way to get things that I need or want on my own rather than having to wait for somebody else having to do things on there time then feeling like I owe them for what they gave me plus more.
Growing up in a town in which most people took advantage with civil service or union jobs, I always pictured myself doing something different;I strived to find a more meaningful purpose for myself. While training and developing a skill set or trade was admirable,I was of belief that I was meant to do something more challenging with my life. With this in mind, I decided to initially pursue a degree at Nassau Community College with a focus in the field of architecture. It was at Nassau where I quickly realized choosing a future career was not as easy as I expected. After studying diligently and absorbing as much information as possible pertaining to architecture, I recognized that the passion and spark I presumed I would have for architecture had not developed.
The journey that doctoral students face when transitioning from being a doctoral student to an independent scholar is challenging. All three articles focus on the journey of becoming an independent scholar by explaining the process and what factors lead to success. The three studies provided three common themes: Academic Success, Relationships and the progress a doctoral student makes to become an Independent Scholar. An analysis of all three studies reveal: the challenges that doctoral students face, while on their journey to becoming independent scholars. Doctoral students transition into independent scholars by achieving, academic success, developing meaningful relationships that assist students in becoming independent
“You are essentially who you create yourself to be and all that occurs in your life is the result of your own making” by Stephen Richards. Improving yourself proves you are trying to make your personality better. I tried to improve myself being independent financially, socially, and physical.
Being independent can have good learning examples and challenges. The way we look, and use it can determine how much of one we have. We need to be aware that when we gain independance we also gain a lot of responsibilities.
The primary disadvantage of randomised controlled trials would be ethics. There must be sufficient belief that the intervention will be safe. Moreover, clinical equipoise is very important. Clinical equipoise is the assumption that there is not one intervention better than the other during the design of a randomised controlled trial. (Cook and Sheets, 2011). Participants must be aware that they are taking part in a study and they should be informed of the risks and benefits of the trial - this is informed consent. It is also imperative that a data monitoring and safety committee review results and a closed and confidential data monitoring and ethics committee reviewed results for this trial. Ethics approval was granted by the northwest multicentre research ethics committee and each centre had to achieve local approval.
Independence is something that most people don’t have. A lot of people can’t do anything for themselves much anymore. Most people have a challenging time having self independence. Which is bad because you will need independence your whole life.
To help promote as much personal and physical independence and choice as possible in the activities of daily living. By giving each individual their choices where possible as to which clothes they would prefer to wear. Or by promoting independence by how much assistance each person wishes to have. To assist residents with personal needs and washing and
My goals for the start for my internship were simple, but quickly evolved. My goals were to gain experience and build my resume, while bringing the lessons I have learnt in college, and using my skills as an engineer to help the department of public works. Now my goals have become more specific; I would like to learn more about sewer operations, I would like to develop my computing and design skills using the tools available to the Hydraulic section and I would like to mature as an engineering professional. While at the hydraulics section, I have access to programs like MUNSYS, as well as ArcGIS. As an intern, I update and maintain sewer related features on these programs. I would like to learn everything I can to develop my skills as a designer to help me become a better engineer.
