This study shows an increase in inequality of Christians in other Countries. There is a increase in the amount of restrictions and laws put on Christians and their Human Rights in other Countries with more Government leaders putting guidelines on other religions and not liking the freedoms that the people in the western Countries have, like the United States. What we can do to help with this problem
The United Nations passed a Declaration that states:
“Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship

• [Islamist persecution is set to rise in 2014 ahead of elections in Nigeria and Afghanistan. Communism remains a potent oppressor of Christians, with North Korea maintaining its reputation as the worst persecutor of Christianity in the world.
• '2014 looks set to be a turbulent year for Christians - especially ahead of elections in Nigeria and Afghanistan,' says Colin King, the UK director of Release International, which serves the persecuted Church worldwide.
• 'Extreme Islam is on the rise, leading to greater persecution and an exodus of Christians from the Middle East. But the heartening news is that this reality is now being acknowledged publicly. It has been recognized in the UK parliament and by Prince Charles.

This article directly relates to my topic of Christianity because the article itself has the word “Christian” in its title. It also relates to my topic because of how it talks about persecution of people if you believe in Christianity. For instance, a section of the article states, “Christians must think through their cultural position more carefully than at any other point in US history” (Ellis 1). The main point of the article is
Part I – Intro: “An age is called Dark not because the light fails to shine, but because people refuse to see it.” (James A. Michener, Space) I am here today arguing a denied, avoided, and controversial topic [Christian Persecution]; and, I am doing this so that I can make the increasing amount of attacks on our first amendment rights known. The injustice here is not only the attacks on Christians’ rights to religious freedom, but also because it is ignored. The rights of everyone are compromised because no matter what religion you identify with or even one at all, there is a precedent being set that denying someone’s right is okay. “1,400 documented attacks on religious freedom, at a 15% increase over the past year and a 133% increase over the past five years.”
Christians have been persecuted around the world for their faith during varying periods of time since the birth of the religion. Even today there are stories of Christians being killed or beaten severely at the hands of Hindu extremists in India or in places like China and North Korea. Yet Christianity thrives as the world’s largest religion. Persecution of Christians was especially brutal and widespread during the fourth century in the Roman Empire. Christians were tortured until they denied Christ or killed if they refused, their possessions, houses and buildings were confiscated and they were forced to observe pagan sacrificial traditions. Constantine the Great’s rise to power brought about tremendous change in Roman attitudes and laws from absolutely destroying Christians to accepting, protecting and even supporting the furthering of Christianity.
The United States is praised in social studies classes for being a “melting pot” that accepts all no matter their race, creed, or religion. However, one group of Americans is claiming they are being unfairly persecuted for their faith, because they are unable to practice it the way they see fit. They are not a minority religion or newly established, but in fact Christians. Considering that Christianity is the largest faith group in this United States, it is important to analyze these claims of injustice and determine if there is a valid argument at play. It is also vital to examine what role Christians play within these conflicts and the current American landscape. Once these two elements are explored, other instances of documented religious
These examples show that there is in fact a real threat to Christians worldwide. Some countries and parts of the world are not safe for Christians. Some countries ban Christianity as a whole, other countries ban religion in general. In both situations, Christians are open to persecution and therefore are always facing the possibility of persecution, which in some cases can be bodily harm or even
Aikman quoted statistics revealing the pervasiveness of despotic social, political, and religious campaigns against Christians occurring in approximately 67% of the 193 countries in the world. He referred to a “worst-offenders” list of countries, which placed North Korea at the top of that list. The top 50 offenders included Muslim-majority territories like Kuwait, Syria, and Libya and a diminishing number of Communist states, such as China, Cuba, and Vietnam, that use forms of persecution no less lethal or oppressive than Muslim nations. Further, Aikman noted the hostility and maltreatment of Christians in democratic countries such as India, where a militant group
Since the conception of humanity, a plethora of controversy has arisen over the religious beliefs held by disparate individuals or groups, and whether their ideologies are accurate or not. In the United States, a region infamous for being home to many diverse cultures and religions, disputes regarding religion have emerged everywhere from court cases to schools. People are frequently compelled by religions because religious beliefs possess great leverage on the positions that individuals hold in other aspects of life, such as governmental issues and lifestyle choices. Among these contentious religions are Islam and Christianity,
Earlier this spring I heard Steve Wagner, the head of Solidarity with the Persecuted Church, give an inspiring and informative presentation about the conditions of persecuted Christians in the hot spots of Iraq, Syria, and
Barely a year after Pope Francis promoted religious freedom in Cuba, the communist regime of the island nation has launched a new crackdown on Christians. Many churches have been destroyed and many pastors have been detained, Christian Today relays.
In the entire world, there are 22 billion documented Christians and three-fourth of them live in the West, which is tolerant. Things are different in the Middle East, as a Christian, we suffer more persecution than any other religion in the world, but as we suffer, we are on the pathway to triumph as we suffer for believing in God and the Bible. The Bible is so powerful that it has been banned from such countries. The persecution in the Middle East is leading the elimination of the religion as a whole. The Chief Rabbi, Lord Sacks, has called
Christians in Eritrea are being persecuted, with more than 300 believed to be in jails, and some of them are being told to renounce their faith in exchange for freedom.
Most of the Christians then were persecuted because of their faith. However, an advancement over the years led to the persecution of Christians by the Muslims. Muslim persecution began long ago and is widespread. Some of the Muslims often defect to Christianity, a violation which is punishable by death according to Islamic laws. According to Islamic laws, Christians are not allowed to have any authority over the Muslims or to build new churches or even repair the old ones. In general, the Christians who live in the regions dominated by the Muslims are often subjected to various rules and regulations which if not followed often comes with a great price and
“For the third year in a row, the modern persecution of Christians worldwide has hit another record high” according to Christianity Today (Persecution in the Early Church). Right now, it is very dangerous to be a Christian in some countries of the world. Countries in Asia and the Middle East show the most violence towards Christians. If history really does repeat itself, Christianity will grow in numbers and in faith. More people will convert and the religion as a whole will be strengthened. This current issue can be related to Christian persecution starting in 64 AD which became most prominent in the Roman Empire. Christians have continued to be persecuted sporadically throughout history.
As the number of media events showing Islam as a dark threat increases, so do threats to
The international non-governmental organization I have chosen to research is The Voice of the Martyrs. The mission of The Voice of the Martyrs is “Serving persecuted Christians through practical and spiritual assistance and leading other members of the Body of Christ into fellowship with them.” 1 Originally called Jesus to the Communist Word and founded in 1967, the name was soon changed to The Voice of the Martyrs in order to more thoroughly encompass those Christians being persecuted for their faith as opposed to those in countries specifically declaring themselves as communist. Even though the history of this NGO is short, the persecution of Christians has a much longer history. The persecution of Christians dates back to the earliest years of the church, over 2000 years and predates the Roman occupation of what is now the modern day Middle East.
