Influences On American Culture

Cultures is regarded as an influential dynamic society with standards for a group of people. Many immigrates, have passed down their beliefs or stigma to their first, second and third generation Americans. Their beliefs influences their concept of traditions, for example marriage, sexuality standards and virginity virtues.

Culture incorporates many different aspects of life such as religion, food, language, ethnicity, and many more. All of these aspects influence the way a person lives and acts. Although culture provides a positive influence by bestowing self worth, it could also negatively affect someone’s life. Culture affects a person in many ways by creating internal and external conflict, which influences the way others view them and therefore affects their actions and how they feel about themselves.

Culture is one of the diverse and quick changing phenomena. The American culture has been changing with time. However, despite the change and evolution of the culture, the rich elements of the culture have been passed through the generations (Colby, 597). In late 19th Century and early 20th Century the American culture was more concrete and focused on ethnicity background. The whites, the blacks, the natives, and the Latinos all brought their culture in their lives. The American people then tried to incorporate these cultures which by mid 20th century became synonymous with the American people. The blend of these cultures became rich and inspiring. During the time, the American became so much involved in overseas activities. In that way the American culture began to spread (power of persuasion, 7). Looking back at the time and the current times, the culture can be stated as relatively correlated. America is currently involved actively in overseas activities. The American culture is still blended just like the culture of the late19th Century and early 20th Century. American culture still influences other cultures in the world because America has a strong involvement in overseas activities.

During the 1400's Europe underwent through significant economic, cultural and political changes. The Renaissance, period which began around the 1300's and ended nearby the 1700s, brought with it the rise of powerful Nations. Advances in the technological area drove Europeans to be able to develop navigation instruments, ships, and guns. Those new implements determined the beginning of the exploration and colonization period. Africans used to have a well-established trade system, however, the arrival of the Europeans altered such system.

In the American culture was a huge deal because many immigrants would have entered the country later on during the years. In order to effectively analyze cultural differences and power struggles that were demonstrated on the macro and micro level, one must understand the environmental dimensions that were associated with the target population. The dominant American culture often unconsciously ignored the cultural differences with the inferior group that was shared in their environment. As the dominant culture, it is always important to be culturally competent and familiar with the non-dominant culture morals and beliefs. Comparatively, the individuals psychological and spiritual dimensions that were influenced by the social behavioral perspective on the micro level, were associated with their target population.

While many Americans may not really think about their native culture, it does exist (as the “mom and apple pie” stereotype demonstrates.) Like most world cultures, it arose from myriad factors, not the least of which is its immigrant history. Many of the foods and customs that we take for granted as part of the American tradition actually got their start elsewhere. Here’s a look at four different ways immigrants have influenced American culture.

Culture has a paramount influence in everyday day life from the way people dress to way people gather food to how someone greets others. It united group of people based on their share ideas, perceptions, and knowledge (Blanco). Although some cultures share similar aspect, some can vary differently in their customs and norms. An example would a clan known as Nacirema whose culture would be described by outsiders as extreme and sadistic. The culture of this country gives me the chance to be part of it, and I took it. This course helps me develop a better understanding of the American culture. I feel the three most important elements in American culture are diversities, changes and conflicts. The people in our country make the diversities of our culture, and the historical context caused the conflicts and changes.

I had a Vietnamese friend in elementary school that had moved from Vietnam recently (about 12 or so years ago) that was probably my only close experience of Asian culture or Asian representation until middle school. I’m writing about him because my understanding of Asians really only came from a 9 - 10 year old boy’s unmoderated adventures through Asian-related online websites, his parents, and my parents view of their family. I really couldn’t understand much without my parents telling me what certain aspects of my friend’s family were about, which about half were very inappropriate for a 9 year old boy to be asking about.

Culture is universal and inescapable. Its expressed through different beliefs and ideas. It follows someone through their ethnicity and communities. The cultural impact is inevitable and permanent. Someone’s culture has a significant impact on the way they view the world and others. This influence is communicated through the individual's upbringing, their culture, as well as their current environment. Situations are perceived differently by those with different values. The fairly full extent of one’s cultural impact is clear.

The United States is the 3rd biggest nation in the world with a populace of more than 320 million, as per the U.S. Statistics Bureau. In view of this, the United States is a standout amongst the most socially assorted nations on the planet. Almost every district of the world has impacted American society, as it is a nation of foreigners, most eminently the English who colonized the nation starting in the mid 1600s. U.S. society has likewise been formed by the way of life of Native Americans, Latin Americans, Africans and Asians. The American culture includes the traditions and conventions of the United States. Moreover, the group formation of globally connected professionals precisely business elites, the spread of pop culture such and movies, TV shows, clothing, fast food, etc, are some. Furthermore, the McDonald's and Starbucks have many restaurant outlets within the world and affected the food habit of the people. Additionally, most of the American TV shows have affected the teenagers who are trying to imitate the US culture and leaving own culture behind. The English language is another which has impacted the culture in terms of language. However, the craze of English language is increasing day by day. Along with this, the different business elite group has been formed for those who worked together mainly the skilled people, fluent in English, etc.

The world today is continuing to evolve on a daily basis, and that is one thing we can count on it doing. It started evolving from the beginning and will continue to the end of time. The biggest part of evolution is the way our culture has changed over thousands of years. Now, my description of how the world is going to look in 100 years is probably the same as most people my age. Everything will be electronic.
