Not wanting to disappoint her mother with the thought that she was playing “the devils music” she created her stage name which she is now famously known as. Nina emerged on the professional stage in 1960 at a jazz festival, and quickly gained recognition with her baritone voice, not only was her voice so unique that it grasped anyone’s attention, but the way she cultivated the new sound of jazz was amazing. Madonna is not the product of some music industry idea, but her own woman. She is still driven to achieve: "Even though I've become Somebody, I still have to prove that I'm Somebody.
Leaving behind school to find creative inspiration left her working three jobs, one including a stint where she became a gogo dancer while she perfected her performances. Soon after in 2005, Gaga was signed to Def Jam Records as a songwriter. However, just a few months later Def Jam Records dropped her where she then preformed in clubs and venues on New York City’s Lower East Side. She then started to dapple more in fashion and even formed a band entitled the Stefani Germanotta Band, also known as the SGBand. They even released two EPs prior to conflicts and breaking up. Two years later in 2007 Gaga was again signed but to a different record label, Interscope Records. There, Gaga began to write music for artist such as Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, The Pussycat Dolls, Adam Lambert, and Wale. Akon, the R&B artist, discovered Gaga while she was preforming in a show she created dubbed “Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue.” Akon was quick to jump at her immense talent and signed her as a recording artist where she quickly released her debut album The
The stage is dark. Thousands of screaming fans wait in agonizing anticipation. Smoke crawls out from the stage, and out struts a confident blonde woman. With the spotlight focused entirely on her, the crowd erupts into deafening applause as she begins her incomparable dance routines. She is an icon. She is Madonna. History has never seen a cultural figure with as much controversy or flair for the dramatic as Madonna, nor will history ever see such a figure. Madonna’s name is recognized by everyone, as is evidenced in a survey taken of fifty people of varying ages (shown below). These facts alone are enough to engrave her name in pop culture history, but the making of an icon does not stop there. Madonna is the quintessential

5.3. Madonna as a “Queer supporter” Madonna is considered to be one of the most influential supporters who stand up for the rights of dissident sexualities, using the media as a tool for publicity. In Mistry’s words, although ‘‘a centre element of Madonna’s sexual politics is female empowerment and freedom to express female sexuality’’. (Mistry, 2000), she is into more subversive politics when she publicly supports LGBT rights, AIDS charity work and lesbianism. On the evening of May 22nd, 2017 at 10:30 pm Ariana Grande was an American singer who had just recently performed at the Manchester arena to thousands of adoring fans all cohesively singing to songs that meant something different to each individual. Three minutes later that same night singing would no longer be heard, and instead the cries of innocent young people prior to the sound of an explosion released by Salman Abedi. Ariana Grande was now no longer just a singer, but a victim, and even to some: the cause. More specifically she was an American citizen caught in an international crisis. Ariana Grande faced a challenge not many people, luckily, have or ever will face in their lives. The actions she took following this event are ones that
What didn't happen during the Super Bowl halftime show might have been one of the biggest shocker's of the game. The NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, stage was all hers to do and say what she wanted, but Lady Gaga stuck to singing, leaving her political feelings out of it.
At the age of 19, Gaga was originally signed to Def Jam Records after the labels CEO heard her singing in a hallway of its New York Office. There she recorded and produced one song, with producer Red One titled “Boys, Boys, Boys”. After 3 months she was dropped as an artist from the label. After being dropped, Gaga formed an indie rock band titled The Stefani Germanotta Band. She recorded one album with them, and performed in Underground New Jersey clubs. While performing with the band, she began writing with music producer Rob Fusari. He compared her musical style to Freddie Mercury, and came up with the name “Lady Gaga”, naming her after the song “Radio Gaga.”
Others may consider it Gaga's flopped album, but I would say otherwise. It may not be her bestselling record, but for me it is her best when it comes to artistry. The album cover, way better than her other albums' (except The Fame Monster, I still love that goth-inspired theme), really says a lot.
