Out of 100 children 16 of them are active in child slavery. Ten percent of those children thought about giving up. Many of those children may never go to school. My objective today is to talk to you about child slavery and express to you about their feeling. There are about 200 million children dealing with child slavery daily. 100 million of those children are 15 years old or younger. Some were as young as 4 years old. These children work jobs such as chores in the house, construction, and making chocolate. They also did some things that we would not count as child slavery such as being forced to dance.
In Afghanistan there are a group of boys named The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan. They are forced to dance a lot. Many of those boys were being sexually abused. Sexual abuse is a form of child slavery as well. About 2 million children are subjected to childhood prostitution in the global commercial trade. This is done to them through sex trafficking. Those kids are forced to do it

With high birth rates in Haiti, 80% of the population lives in poverty. In 2010, Haiti experienced a terrible earthquake; which resulted in a lot of orphaned children. Some of the other children poor parents wanted to escape the financial burden of raising them, so they sent them to work for wealthy families. Those children had to work in harsh conditions regardless of the weather condition.
Just like Martin Luther King Jr., I also have a dream that child slavery would come to an end one day. There are laws to protect children from childhood slavery, but those laws differ in each country. The government can do all they can to protect those children. I believe that child slavery will never fully come to an end because people do not listen. I hope one day every child would get the proper care and education that they deserve and need without abuse.
STOP AND PUT AN END TO CHILD
From the very beginning of life, children are thought of as gifts from God. Families will do anything and everything to make sure the children are taken care of and that their needs are met. Parents will even sacrifice their own necessities to be sure that the children get what they need. Mothers will feed their children and make sure they can go to school before they will eat. In Haiti, children are raised by the whole family, which includes older siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and even members of the community that are not
Human Trafficking and Slavery universally happens in the world when individuals are placed or maintained in and exploitive situation for economic gain. Women, men and children are trafficked for a range of different purposes; forced and exploitative labour in factories, farms and private households, sexual exploitation, and forced marriage. Trafficking can happen to all people if the circumstances are right.
The January 12, 2010 Haiti Earthquake caused an enormous destruction in the Caribbean nation. Hospitals and government buildings collapsed along with an unbelievable amount of homes. Tens of thousands of people were killed, and many more were wounded. The disaster added more misery to people already struggling to get by with everyday life. Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world. The January 12 quake demolished almost every major building in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. About 5,000 schools in the city were destroyed or damaged. Throughout Haiti, more than 220,000 people were killed, and more than 1 million were left homeless. A few days after the quake, the number of survivors stood at 121 as hopes of finding more became
“43% of victims are used for forced commercial sexual exploitation, of whom 98% are women and girls” (UNGIFT). Women and girls are ensnared in sex trafficking in a variety of ways. Some are lured in with offers of real and legal work in restaurants, massage parlors, or anything else. Others are promised marriage, education and a better life. Still others are sold into trafficking by boyfriends, friends, neighbors or even parents (SOROPTMIST). Many of the girls and women are also forced into pornography. With all of the types of sexual exploitation comes abuse. Sexual, physical, and emotional are all types of abuse put onto females in human trafficking. Many people traffic others in hopes of getting money, work done, or just pure pleasure.
A current problem in Haiti that Free The Children is focusing on is education. Following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that destroyed Haiti on January 12th, 2010; hundreds of school buildings were destroyed and the education system was left wrecked. This is affecting society because currently Haiti’s literacy rate is 62% and only less than half of the country’s children attend school. About 37% of students actually reach the sixth grade out of the 60% of the students that enroll. Free The Children is currently working in an area where 90% of the schools built are built by community-based, non-governmental, and/or religious organizations that are trying to rebuild the education system.
Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act (Homeland).
A. People who are trafficked for sex feel completely helpless, and the horror they have to go through is not fully acknowledge.
Every year in the United States, up to 300,00 children, aged 18 and younger, are forced into the commercial sex trade. Sex trafficking not only occurs in the United States but throughout the world. Not only are young girls trafficked but also young boys. Child sex trafficking is highly a major issue because of how victims are targeted, how it effects a child and their life and there are certain signs to look for to notice if a child is being trafficked.
Many state and rebel governments also practice forced labor, with at least 2.2 million people worldwide in state-imposed forms of forced labor. Exploits 90% of the world’s forced laborers. Slaves do not work under the threat of a penalty. “India, which is the worst offender — there are currently 18 and a half million slaves.” Modern day means today. In some cases and in many different cultures, children but particularly girls – that have been sexually violated are no longer accepted in their families or communities because they are seen as tainted. “Modern slavery,” “trafficking in persons,” and “human trafficking” have been used as umbrella terms for the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Some people think slavery is bad meanwhile some people thinks its good. Almost 21 million people are victims of forced labour – 11.4 million women and girls and 9.5 million men and boys. Migrant workers and indigenous people are particularly vulnerable to forced
In Haiti alone, 3.6 million1 are facing food insecurity and 300,0002 children are considered child slaves.
"The best way to make children good is to make them happy." This popular quote said by Oscar Wilde should be something everyone lives by. People always say how children are the hope for the future; how they should be raised right in order for them to prosper in the future. While many adults do see the importance that kids hold in our generation, many do not. If you think about it, who will be going to be doing your job once you retire? Children need to be given the best resources for not only themselves, but for the benefit of the older generations. If children someday will become the future of this world, they should be treated as so. While most kids are treated fairly and given the rights they deserve, others suffer from abuse and neglect from a parent or guardian which can easily affect how they will prosper in the future.
Haiti was ranked 145 out of 169 countries on the UN Human Development Index, the lowest ranked country in the Western Hemisphere. More than 70% of Haiti’s population lives on less than $2 a day. Haiti has a population of 9.893.945 people, 95% of the population is black and 5% is mulatto and white, with a median age of 21.9 years old. The religious makeup of the country consists of 80% Roman
Sex trafficking is when girls get abducted and further sold for money and sex (Coorlim). As if the sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect is not bad enough, the girls that go through this horrible tragedy are left with
The children are enslaved as free labor and are of the victims of sexual abuse as well. According to Andrea Bertone and Christina Arnold, founders of the organization Prevent Human Trafficking, “Work for trafficked victims consists of exploitation, debt bondage, low to no wages, excessive hours, unsafe conditions. Often victims see themselves as being no worse off than if they had stayed home” (Arnold 31). Despite the horrible conditions most victims don’t even realize the gravity of their situation and fall into a sense of appeasement.
Child abuse is horrible and should prevented! No child should experience these horrors or have them thrust upon them. I will tell you about physical, emotional, and sexual abuse along with neglect. These are the most common forms of child abuse but I'm sure others are out there.
