Many people today do not like to admit the bias that underlies their reasoning. For instance, many people fear Islamic Fundamentalists althought most attacks are perpetrated by non-muslims. Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is revlvant to today’s world because it contains many examples of injustice which are still a major issue today. Many of the characters in the town of “Maycomb” show the extremity of how biased they are towards white people. Taking place in Alabama during the Great Depression, the reader observes as the young protagonists transition from innocence to maturity. The narrator of the story is portrayed by a young girl by the name of Scout Finch. During the book, the reader discovers a misunderstood character, vagrant people whom the rest of the town looks down upon, and biased trial of an innocent black man, judged by white men. Injustice is a major thmee of the book and many exmples can be found throughout the novel.

The character of Arthur Radley is a major example of injustice. Within the book, Lee describes a character, misjudged in the town of Maycomb, the majority of his life; his name was Arthur Radley. Mr. Radley, Arthur Radley’s father, treated him continuously with unusual punishment which caused Arthur to remain in his house.
