At first glance I assumed the car was falling throughout space and time. Further reading and reviewing of the short video, lead me to the art of a car exploding. I will explore the work of Inopportune by answering the following questions: Was the installation effective space used properly? Do I understand the concepts? And finally would others be impacted by Inopportune? First, I did get the impression of installation being very effective. It seemed like the artist used a site-specific design to transform the Seattle Art Museum hall into a scene of a car explosion. This installation had to be temporary, unlike “Her Secret Is Patience” by Janet Echelman, whose art was public but permanent and costly. Other views show that Inopportune appears …show more content…
Burn marks on the car would have been a great indicator of a fire or some sort of combustion for me. I understand a little about the cars being upside down, potentially from a strong blast. I do think the art would be view differently with people suffering with post-traumatic stress from wars or who have been in or witnessed a very close car bombing while serving which could cause negative feedback. Some people that live in the Middle East would be impacted by this art as well. I used to hear about car bombings everyday on the news from that particular part of the world. Which is why I think Middle Eastern people may view the art differently. The title of this artwork is called Inopportune. Inopportune is defined as inappropriate timing. A car bomb is every bit of inappropriate time. I searched and found how the installation was implemented, the space of the museum used and how others would view this art. I not sure what the artist motives were to apply art in a sense of a car bombing. As an artist, I wouldn’t want people to connect this type if art as a product that’s international knowing for killing
During my visit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the artwork that caught my eye was Barbara Kruger’s Untitled (No Radio). I noticed this piece because it reminded me of Andrea Mantegna’s Dead Christ because the use of perspective. If I had not taken this art history course, I would not have thought much of the use of black and white with the red print message and border that makes a political statement for women. I’ve been to this museum before and I really did not appreciate the precision and all the aspects of an art work. The dead woman’s body is partly uncovered, showing conservatism but her heart is in a man’s hand. The positioning of the visible arm and the heart shows an interest in the human form and anatomy. Moreover, the
For my research I visited the memorial for the victims and heroes of 911. The location for this grand and majestic art piece is in downtown Toms River. “Wow, the art I discovered was just so beautiful.” On a cold December morning in 2015 I took a short ride to Downtown Toms River. As soon as I pulled
An artist's job is to interpret, and express the aspects of life in a creative fashion. War has played a big part in shaping our human history, and many artists have portrayed their feelings about art through paintings, and even monuments. Whether it be to show; the joy of victory, the sorrow of defeat, or to educate the public on the gory realities of war. Art about war can also show us a great amount of history of the kinds of weapons that were used at the time. It is necessary for artists to interpret, and criticize all aspects of life; even ones as tragic as war, It can make the public more aware of what goes on in times of war.
We finally made it to the car accident. The roads were blocked off with wooden caution signs and bright red flares that lit up the darkness around the scene. I saw Mike’s car, a 2016 Ford Focus. The car was cut into two pieces by a massive tree. By the looks of it, he lost control and spun out.
Ring, ring, ring. This sound is ingrained in my subconscious as one of anxiety, confusion, frustration, and eventual relief. Junior year had just begun and I was busy completing my homework when the phone started to ring. I was already anticipating the ways I would spend my time after completing my written assignments and reviewing the new information learned that day in class. My father had not returned from work yet, and dinner had already come and gone. This initial idiosyncrasy, one that probably should have raised a "red flag," was glossed over as routine and ordinary. Times of tribulation and stress often expose who we truly are as individuals. They strip us of our defensive layers and reveal ourselves at the "bare bones," fundamental level. I had no idea that this telephone call (and subsequent events) would expose my true identity
“The Away Team Beams Down to What Appears to be Unlimited Planet” is large in scale encompassing the whole space of one wall. This creates the illusion that the viewer can just step right into it. It is the largest piece in the collection and brings all of the other works together. Assu embraces a digital print of “Vanquished” by Emily Carr and imprints a large digital symbol on top of it. This process of embellishing another artist work is a common way of addressing a message, though, is surrounded by controversial opinions. The question is, does this way of making art have as deep of an effect on the audience compared to a piece that is fully the work of one artist? The symbol is a traditional Kwakwaka’waka element. The smooth paint strokes of “Vanquished” contrast with the hard bright neon orange abstract shape of Sonny Assus. The symbol resembles a face, with eyes and a mouth. Out of the ovoid shape Assus has added thin circles overlapping each other, in a spiral like pattern, leading towards the ground, The shape takes up around a third of the original painting and is very dramatic becoming the most dominant feature and capturing the audience 's attention first. All together the embellishment resembles an abstract UFO, placed looking down at the planet searching for something.
The piece I choose to critic is titled “Buscado por su madre” or “Wanted by his Mother” by Rafael Cauduro, no year. This piece is an Oil on Canvas painting that measured 48”x36” located at the Long Beaches MoLAA. The work is presented as one of a few Mexican artists that share an interest in their painting primarily figurative style, political in nature, that often narrated the history of Mexico or the indigenous culture. The painting is one of the first viewers see as they enter the Museum. It is at eye level and demonstrates a superb use of illusionistic realism that it creates the illusion of being real. The painting is of a old Missing poster of a man on a brick wall. What made it stand out in my eyes was the fact that it looked to be a three dimensional object on what looked like real bricks with the words wanted by mother on the top. Cauduro’s piece, in my eyes looked like he literally took a chunk out of a wall, and placed an old torn missing poster of a man on the front and put it out for display. Cauduro uses texture to represent the look of brick by applying thick strokes of paint creating a body of its own as and mimics the look and shape of brick. He also makes applies the same technique on the wanted poster by implying that it is old and torn by again layering his paint to create the
In 1972 a Ford Pinto, purchased six months prior, unexpectedly stalled on the freeway in California. The Pinto was hit from behind by a Ford Galaxy, erupting into flames instantly. The driver of the car, Lilly Gray, suffered from fatal burns and died a few days later in the hospital. The passenger, a 13-year old boy named Richard Grimshaw, was also severely injured from burns, which caused his face and body to be permanently disfigured.
In any form of disaster, the world shuts down and goes into a panic, like a bee trapped under a glass. Art is a significant role in what brings people together and conserves normality. In the midst of nuclear war, it is a difficult time for all, so keeping oneself safe, while not hurting others, would be hoped for. It is important for human life to continue to its best ability so everyone

I could tell that this car crashing is really strong because they crashed so hard that those cars fell off. Imagining that those cars would fell off and hit the bottom cars gives me nightmares. If I were in the bottom lane, I would be terrified. Technology are good but it could create a horrified accident like in the picture. There are many clounds in the sky, it looks more like smoke. The picture is black and white so it gives out a depression feeling. It is dangerous for the bottom lane car. If I were in the bottom lane, I would be terrified. It is scary how danger could be right next to
At approximately 12:15 A.M. on June 28, 1983, a large section on the Mianus River Bridge collapsed leaving three victim killed and three injured as they were plunged into the Mianus river. The vehicles where two tractor trailers and two passenger cars. A volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) volunteer described moving a girl trapped in a car without the use of a backboard: “If we delayed there could have been a bigger problem with an explosion or fire. You have those diesel trucks with hundreds of gallons of fuel.”
Sometimes what appears to be bad luck, turns out to be good luck and visa versa.
Many people think that being poor is a bad thing. After all, they don’t have any money and have to eat scraps for dinner. In the United States, being poor isn’t that bad. What many people don’t know is that there are several programs out there to help out those in need. For example, there is Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps, and WIC just to name a few. Government programs first came around when the great depression hit. The government was overwhelmed by families needing food, clothing, and shelter. Franklin Roosevelt “New Deal” was to provide work relief for the millions of unemployed Americans. Federal money was given to the state to pay for public work which employed people. In 1935, Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act which also established a national welfare system and unemployment insurance. Since then many other programs have developed and provided many people with the basic necessities of life. Just like David in David and Goliath, many do
Symbolism and architecture often go hand in hand. Like almost every work of art, critics and audiences attempt to read something deeper, to find
