Reading the Heritage poem and Integrationism and Nationalism in African American Intellectual History story, the two have some similarities. In comparison the strong black males were described as how society tries to imprint in their heads who they’re supposed to be. According to the white society definition of normal, both men seem to struggle with that. They also struggled between knowing who they were and who they were told to be. I can relate to these two sources because I had experienced the same treatment these two men received. I grew up in a home with both of my parents, who came from two different countries. My mother is from Barbados, while my father is from Guyana. If I had to define my childhood, I would say that it was rough.
