Driven by the bleak living of Southern America, the genre of Blues along with black African Americans migrated north towards the cities city during the time of the great migration. The Harlem Renaissance we know identify it, influenced by black Americans revolutionised popular music of the era and within a small period of time two genres of Jazz and Blues moulded their significance in American identity. The Blues were originally developed by black African slaves who sang away their ‘blues’ as a survival strategy to face the brutal conditions in which they were forced to live in America.
