The setting is a small town with a population of three hundred people. On June 27th, the townspeople, begin to assemble for the lottery. The setting of the story revolves around how the townspeople pick an individual for the lottery. I honestly would say detract because there was nothing in the beginning of the story that was intriguing to continue reading. There were constant detailing of the townspeople movements and small talk, which was not very interesting.

What are some examples of irony in this story? Provide examples to support your claim.
"The lottery usually improves our life somehow, in which we get some kind of reward; however in this story, the "winner" of the lottery gets stoned to death.
