Is Abortion Right Or Wrong

Abortion is a very touchy subject in our society. In the U.S. it is legal to abort a fetus up until the twenty fourth week. An abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth, which results in the death of an embryo or a fetus. Many people consider abortion as cruel as murder. Although some say abortion is in there own hands and is there own decision, others believe that no one but God has the right to take someone else 's life. People that support abortion do not consider an unborn fetus a person who must be protected under the law. Which makes an issue like abortion, difficult in determining if it is right or wrong in someone 's opinion.

Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks (Abortion). Abortion is a controversial topic because one group of people would say it is killing a human (Abortion ProCon.org). On the other hand, the other group of people would say that the fetus is not developed enough to call it a human. This is an issue because it goes against morals that people have been been raised up on. It even goes against religion in which it defies the word of God. The other group says it’s a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution (Abortion ProCon.org).

Ever since the case of Roe v. Wade in 1973, abortion has been one of the most contentious issues in our society. In some cases people think abortion is murder, in others, it’s reasonable for some cases. Then there are people who use it just to take advantage of it. The legal stance of abortion is a hot topic in today’s society.

Abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy at any stage that does not affect birth; medically, according to Oxford Dictionary abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a foetus or embryo by natural causes before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is a controversial topic that causes many arguments because of the different opinions that persons have. Abortion has two main proponents, persons that are for abortion and those that are against abortion. I believe that abortion is wrong and it’s a social problem. I think that it is wrong to have an abortion because life begins at conception. Abortion is no different to murder as it is the act of taking a human life. As in California penal code 187 says murder is an unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus with malice. I think the above definition is an easier and less aggressive way to say that abortion is the murdering of a human being. No civilized society should permit any person to intentionally hurt or take the life of another human without any type of punishment, and abortion should not be different.

Though people may think that abortion is right at the time it’s not. “The killing an innocent human being is wrong, even if that human being has yet to be born. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government.” (by abortion procon.org). Killing an innocent child is wrong. In most cases, women become unhealthy most of the time after getting an abortion, not to mention the child. People will say it’s “woman’s choice”, that doesn’t mean it’s right to murder a child.

In America, abortions are legal. Sacrificing an unborn life in this world should be illegal. They cannot speak for themselves and don’t have a choice to live or die. Abortion should be illegal.

The scientific evidence alone can prove that abortion is wrong. After only 18 days, the child’s heart begins to beat and pump his/hers own blood through their closed circulatory system. Abortion is killing of an unborn baby. It is a procedure that is performed during the early stages of pregnancy. In the past abortion used to be illegal, however it is now legal and is also a major controversy in our country today. On one hand are the Pro-Choice supporters mostly consisting of feminist, teen mothers, rape, and incest victims. On the other hand are the Pro-Life supporters, mostly consisting of Christians and Catholics. In spite of the many arguments in favor of abortion, the murder of unborn infants is wrong, immoral, and should be illegal.

Abortion is equivalent to the murder of a human being. The law states that purposely killing a human being is murder. The fetus is a human being and abortion terminates it, therefore abortion is murder. People today are battling over whether to let a child live or not. Fifty percent (50%) of Americans call abortion morally wrong, while thirty-nine percent (39%) call it morally acceptable. Only half of the United States thinks that abortion is wrong and over a quarter of it thinks it is acceptable in this culture. The correct option is obvious and that is to let the child live. There are many reasons why this is the right option. Killing humans is not right. People today have been exposed to the wrong ideals. Women choose to abort their child because they perceive it as an accident; it was not supposed to happen. Everything happens for a reason because it is a part of God's plan. Abortion should be illegal because it is murder, it goes against God's word, and there are alternate options for the baby.

I have always been passionate and had strong feelings about the topic of abortion. I believe that abortion is completely wrong in every single scenario and situation. I understand that there are several grey areas such as in the case of rape, or if the pregnancy provides a health risk to the mother but regardless of these facts, I believe that abortion is murder. I think that if I was a lawmaker, I would have a difficult time choosing my stance on this issue because I do support liberty and freedom of choice but I do not support abortion which is murder and it goes against all human beings unalienable rights which are “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as mentioned in the US Declaration of Independence.
