Is Education A Democratic Society?

The definition of equal opportunity is, “the policy of treating employees and others without discrimination, especially on the basis of their sex, race, or age”. The education system today in America, is required to give students the equal right to earn an education without discrimination. While the education system today now has that rule, it has not always been the case to allow every student an equal opportunity to earn an education. There has been huge discrimination in the past regarding students of different races and social classes wanting to attend school. While others in the past believed that not everyone should be able to get an equal opportunity to get an education, my beliefs are and have always been different. I believe education in a democratic society should give every student an equal opportunity to get an education, no matter what their race or social class may be. While I have my beliefs on how education in a democratic society should be, others don’t have the same beliefs differ. Our history in education has proven that. Education throughout our history has changed tremendously. Acquiring an education in our history has not always been portrayed as important as it is now. Being educated went from unimportant to almost a necessity today. Today in history, a lot of jobs will require you to have at least your GED if you hired or even interested at that establishment.
