Plagiarism to me is making someones work your own without giving them credit. If you plagiarize there could be serious consequences you'd have to face. It could be personal, professional, ethical, and even legal. The most serious would have to be legal. An author can sue the plagiarist, they could get a criminal offense, and possibly a prison sentence. They consequences should give people a good reason why not to plagiarize.

Most plagiarism is obvious, but could be accidental. There are several things you could do to avoid accidental plagiarism. If you ever copy words from a source, put quotation marks around them so that you remember you got them from a source. You can write parenthesis around ideas from the source your using. Finally you should check your final copy for any kind of plagiarism and to double check that you correctly cited the sources. "When you plagiarize you avoid the work of using your own expressive ability." This means that your just taking the easy way out and not really educating or pushing yourself to learn. Lying also plays a part in what's wrong about plagiarism. If you submit an essay to your teacher/professor containing plagiarism, you are lying to them because they're expecting it to be your words and not anyone elses.
