Foods that are mass produced and heavily processed for a longer shelf life are more commonly accessible for the majority of people, thus creating health issues. Even if the meat and vegetables were home grown it would take a lot of work and can be costly thus the downside to home grown meals. Modernly, most americans have such a disorganized schedule that they would never be able to make time for raising the animal or growing the vegetable anyway. A great way to provide food for the family that, yet many people believe to be inhumane, is very efficient for a healthy meal and is very good for the health of the wildlife population is hunting and fishing. In these areas, roadkill has always been a plausible source for food. While some states simply request reports of accidents, others go as far to require salvaging permits (Buhler 2). Since many are already participating, the most drastic effect of legalization would be reducing fines and other legal ramifications. While these methods are appropriate for the area, other methods would need to be established in more urbanized locations. Notably in large cities, where few citizens are likely to have the knowledge and experience to correctly prepare and slaughter large game. Most people, other than hunters and butchers, would not have the skill. Therefore, it may be suitable to require the meat be examined and slaughtered by professionals, before bringing it home to the dinner table. In addition, practices similar to Alaska’s “roadkill socialism” could be enforced, in which roadkill, as a possession of the state, is given to food banks or used to serve families in need (Buhler 1). Under these circumstances, government resources could ensure the proper care and preparation of the meat before delegating it into society. The world has a need for meat, and it is almost obsessive. Most cultures typically consume some sort of domesticated animal in agriculture. Whether it is cows, chicken, lamb, deer, turkey, or fish, many people are not educated to the fact that the alternative diets are better for their health. There are different animal products for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hundreds if not thousands of diverse chain restaurants dedicated to meat consumption.There are also many different holidays around the world such as Thanksgiving and Christmas where meat is consumed. With affordable prices and an acquired taste, it is likely to be a lifelong habit. There are vast miles of subsidized agricultural land dedicated to the cultivation of animals. According to Amir Khan, staff writer for U.S.News, reporting on the American Meat Institute, Americans consume, “57 pounds more meat than they were in the 1950s”(Khan).

However, there are many more possibilities to explore and take advantage of, such as deer, goose and walleye. All three of these meats each carry some exceptional qualities of their own, capable of improving your lifestyle in a way you didn't imagine was possible.

Hunting season is upon us and that means game meat processing will soon be in full swing. Freezers stuffed with meat, fish, and poultry, food that you brought home to help carry you over the long winter months, but will it carry you over the months, will it be ready to eat whenever you grab a package out of the deep freeze.

Big game hunters typically only use the head and or fur of the animal and throw out the rest to rot. For example, when an elephant is killed often only the tusks and head are saved. Have you ever heard of dog hunting ? Dog hunting is when a dog smells/sees/hears the animal the animal that the dog is trained to persue. Dog hunting is a sport that my family has been doing since it was a sport. This year I got to experience it in a whole other way than usual. I am not talking about how I drove my own vehicle or controlled the dogs, I experienced by watching someone else shine and slay deer rather than me.
