Technology Is Hurting Society
Why has technology been so advanced these few years? Is it hurting our society or is it helping? Well, I would say it is hurting society. Why? Because it is a big distraction to most people, we use technology more than books to research information, and we change attitudes with our parents. If there was a way to have technology and still not be getting hurt, would be a great idea that you think that would help?
Technology has been so advanced these few years is because the people that make phones, computers, and other technology or electronic davies want more money to invest in their bunis. It is hurting society because they are distracting people mostly the ones that drive, they get distracted adn get into an accident or get hurt. Most of them usally get hurt or even die in a bed accident,”99% of the people that didnt use technology in the past have more education then us know a days”. Today many people do not use conventional methods, such as newspapers and television,to get their news and information.Although technology is continuously expanding around every fact of our daily lives, its hurting our communited in genarel.
First, people dont read text the same way as online as we would read them from paper.Instead of actually reading and understanding the information online,we

If we use technology for what we need for our researches on our stuff, then why are they still books around? If we did not have technology almost about 99% of the students that are still in school would have graduated or would not have dropped out of high school. By the fact that technology is taking over our lives these few years! there are six habits that someone can blame on technology;you get use to using your phone everyday, you dont read books for being on your phone, you get into a lot of car wrecks for being on the phone. ( Jeff Hindenach
First, most people think about the way that the technology has improved. Yah that’s true because technology has helped people stay in touch with their long lost families, and help keep up with friends they haven’t seen in a while or has move away. The point t that they fail to realize is that having technology also comes with a lot of problems it. Like for Example: texting while driving, cheating on tests, walking into the road and getting hit by a car. There is many ways that technology has affected society. According to a newspaper article “a 21 year old man was apparently walking down a road in broad daylight and was not paying attention to a car what heading in that direction. As the
In these days, people get addicted to the technology around that we are not even realize. Although technology is very useful to us, it has more disadvantages than we think. Almost everybody in this world think that technology make life more convenient. It is true!!! But very few realize how technology is going to affect our lives. Technology affects us negatively by decreasing the ability of our brain, consuming more time, and decreasing the life skill ability.
The USA on average spends 2.6 hours on technology but in Argentina on average they spend 4.3 hours on technology (Document 4). Technology specifically phones have drastically changed our society and our way of thinking. There has also been a lot of debate on whether to limit amount of time spent on technology or not. While some people believe technology is negatively impacting teenagers, in reality Technology has helped connect people and boost people’s intelligence.
These days, technology seems to be almost everywhere we go. With advancements to cell phones, computers, video games, cars, and our iPods, our lives have become much easier than ever before. Technology is made because the society always wants to find more efficient methods of doing certain tasks. Without technology, mankind would not have discovered things that the majority of us now know, such as the world, animals, science, and the like. However, the society doesn’t gain much benefit, besides their school and work duties. Technology has become a necessity for us as a whole, although it definitely changes our mental habits. Due to advancements in technology, the United States is becoming more dependent on it, which is causing the
Technology has become an increasingly advanced as well as an important aspect in modern society. That is why Ray Bradbury, the author of Fahrenheit 451, was right to fear books and other printed sources would be replaced by modern technology. Technology has contributed to the significant loss of time children spend reading. Additionally, eBooks have replaced print books. Moreover, television and radio have replaced newspapers as the dominant source of information.
Technology allows us to separate ourselves, mentally, from what’s going on around us. In “Is Google Making Us Stupid”, by Nicholas Carr, he notices how the internet allows him to jump around and lose focus. Another effect that technology has on society is that we are losing fundamental social skills. Texting and emailing make it easy to contact someone, but we are losing skills that come with face-to-face communication.
We as a society have gotten so lost in technology that we have lost sight of the real important things and set some of the least important things as priorities. Do not get me wrong, technology is great and we have made some amazing advancements with it; however, the mistake we made was not limiting our use of it enough, causing us to become very dependent on it. Neil Postman, author of Amusing Ourselves to Death makes some very strong arguments about why he believes technology is taking over and causing a lot of harm, a lot of which I do agree with; however, he also makes some very weak points that I completely disagree with.
Likewise, I agree with Carr that technology has changed the way that we function and do things. For example, now days we have become so accustom to getting our information fast and to the point. Causing us to become lazy readers and just want a summary. We have also changed the way we do research instead of going to the library we go to google. In addition, we want everything to be easy and accessible.
It seem as technology advances we further and further lose our interests in books and written texts, this unhealthy addiction we have to technology may be affecting the way we think as well as lowering our reading, writing, and concentration skills. This is concerning as we seem to be getting closer and closer to the society that Ray Bradbury wrote about. In the society of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 it is described
Technology has almost everyone hooked on it we use it for everything now and cannot stop relying on it. Some people think relying on technology is helping us gain more knowledge, but others think it is making us less resourceful. The first article which I will talk about is called "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" By Nicholas Carr; Carr discusses that use of internet resources can benefit us, but have a downside to them. The second article is "Smarter than You Think" by Clive Thompson; Thompson also discusses how technology and humans working together can be very beneficial in intelligence. I believe the issues of whether or not technology is pushing knowledge in the right direction affects everyone that uses
The article “Is Technology Making Us Stupid (and Smarter)?” , by Tomas Chamorro on Psychology Today, technology may have every answer possible, but make us more dependent. Chamorro explains that technology does not make us smarter and how technology affects the knowledge of many others. As of now, technology has made life more simpler and easier. However, technology impacts society dramatically and humans today are likely to search up the answer rather than going to a library. The only knowledge people know is where to find stuff to answer many questions that society does not know. Technology will continue to evolve and the more distance between what can be solved with and without it will increase. Society will become more attached to technology
In today’s modern and technologically advanced society, now more than ever science is critical to our decisions as a race and for the future. Reaching paramount societal controversy are subjects such as artificial intelligence, overpopulation, global warming, and the imminent mass extinction of many keystone species. Furthermore is the question of the extent to which humans should scientifically meddle with these situations while upholding a standard of ethics. The real question now is; Do we sacrifice order and safety for knowledge and power or cease extreme scientific advancements in favor of safety and possible prevention of failure?
Is Technology Ruining Our Lives? Are we becoming addicted to technology? Many people use their devices all day long. Studies show that most people spend 11 or more hours on electronic devices every day (Felix Richter, a data journalist for Statista). Our society spends so much time on their electronics and little do we know, it is ruining us.
In today’s modern world, technology reigns. Millions of people all over the globe utilize technology for a multitude of purposes every day, whether it be at work, school, or even from the leisure of their home. If you were to ask most people in America if they could live without technology even for a day, the answer would most likely be no. Contrary to opinions that are popular with my fellow millennials, I think that society is too dependent on technology. I believe society relies on technology too much because we use the internet for simple tasks that we should be capable of doing ourselves, our dependence has resulted in laziness, and technology is rapidly replacing people in the workplace, thus resulting in less jobs.
Technology is continuously developing and has begun creating shortcuts for the American society. As a society we need to find a balance between our technological use and our everyday life. In my opinion, society has become too dependent on technology. The more advanced technology becomes, the more it seems to be gaining control over our lives. Even though technology is offering society many beneficial qualities; it also is causing many negative effects to occur. Technology is affecting society socially, mentally, and physically.
