The common question that is asked is, Is the American Dream still reachable in today’s world? Immigrants come from all over to try to achieve the American dream and leave behind a better life for their children. If you were to ask someone what they believe the american dream is, They would most likely say the American Dream is to have a nice job and nice house and provide for their family. The American Dream is the idea that every U.S. citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. The American Dream is still achievable for most people today because if Americans strive for your own pursuit of happiness and continue to go toward your dream then you can achieve the American Dream but also for some people the American Dream may not be achievable due to job scarcity or …show more content…

In the Declaration of Independence, it clearly states that all Americans are granted “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” (Declaration of Independence 59).The phrase gives three examples of the "unalienable rights" which the Declaration says have been given to all human beings by their Creator, and which governments are created to protect. That means that all Americans can live the way they want and try to achieve their own thought of the American Dream. Americans can live free and do there own things the way they want to do it. Obama calls America “a beacon of freedom and opportunity” (Keynote Address to the 2004 Democratic National Convention Obama 78). He also agrees that America give countless numbers of opportunity to better their lives for their present lives and leave behind a good life for their children's lives.
