“What it the American dream? The American Dream is one big tent. And on that tent you have four basic promises: equal protection under the law, equal opportunity, equal access and fair share” (Jesse Jackson 1). As Jesse Jackson states, the American Dream provides four basic promises for everyone who lives in America. The American Dream is defined that within America, anyone can gain an education and work, without having to worry about being prosecuted for their beliefs. While some believe that America no longer provides access to the American Dream because people now a days are failing to provide for themselves and their families; however, many argue that America is still providing access to the American Dream because people still achieve an education and gain well-paying jobs. …show more content…

They believe this because they are seeing people struggling to provide for themselves and their families. People like David Wallechinsky, author of the interviews, “Is the American Dream Still Possible” see people struggling to provide. Wallechinsky interviewed Simone Luevano who says, “The American Dream is a bygone thing… It’s not the way life is anymore” (Wallechinsky 58). Simone Luevano is saying that now a days, the American Dream is a thing of the past, and people will be working for most of their lives, and has little financial comfort. Wallechinsky also interviewed Richard Oden who believes the American Dream, for most, is “…still a dream- a pipe dream” (Wallechinsky 56).
