Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day is a holiday celebrated on June,19th, the holiday is historical in nation as it celebrates an event that occurred on June,19th, 1865 in which slaves in Texas were free and more importantly it symbolizes the abolishment of slavery in the Confederate South. Juneteenth is a a merger of June and 19th and many African Americans to this day have cookouts, festivals and other forms of celebration on this date to celebrate this wonderful historical occasion.
In days long when many non-whites were racially segregated , and/or discriminated, making a colored community was unthinkable.That was until one man named James Clemens, a freed slave, broke that barrier, and established Longtown Ohio.The uniqueness of the community, though, was that it was a sanctuary for many different races that were unfit for other communities. This was a place where many different races could interact with each other peacefully. If Riverside, or even our country as a whole had this type of ideology, then there is a likelihood that we would all live in harmony, and safety. The Nacirema is a North America group who lives around the area of Canadian Cree, the Yaqui, Tarahumare of Mexico, the Carib, and Arawak of Antilles. The ritual activity is a big part in the Nacirema's lives. They spend a considerable amount of time performing a secretive ceremonies and posses a great amount of tolerance. Their focus is on the human body appearance and health. It is to their believe that human body is viewed as ''ugly'' and ''debility and disease.” Hoping to eliminate those undesirable characteristic traits, the Nacirema's only hope is to do so through ritual activities hence the shrine is built inside of every house.
Sequoyah was a Cherokee Indian who created the Cherokee language. He was born around 1760 to 1765 in the village of Tuskeegee, Tennessee. His mother was the daughter of a Cherokee chief, and his father was a Virginia fur-trader. Sequoyah was married to a Cherokee and was a silversmith. Because the white soldiers could read and write letters, Sequoyah became inspired to create a written and spoken language during War of 1812, and he taught it to his daughter Ayoka. Sequoyah was a very important figure in Cherokee life.

In this photo is where the Squamish River ends and the Howe Sound begins. The Squamish River is glacially fed further up the valley. The river has cut and meandered its way through the valley with tributaries (Cheakamus River and Mamquam River) funnelling into the Squamish river. These river systems have carried sediment down to the Howe Sound and this sediment is what the town of Squamish is built on.
