A hero is defined as someone who in the face of danger steps up and puts others needs before theirs, expecting no reward in return. In the article “What Makes a Hero?” by Phillip Zimbardo, the author expresses that everyone has the ability to help others, whether it is a small deed like leading a guiding hand to someone who needs it, or it can be as intense as pulling someone out of a burning car. The writer attempts to emphasize the importance of doing the right thing by stating,  “Few people do evil and fewer act heroically.” (Zimbardo). In addition, heroes act not for the fame or the money, but for their own satisfaction. To be considered a hero to me means you first have to act on what you believe in. Anyone could be a hero if they did deeds based on what others want them to do. Also all heros have to be loyal. If they aren’t loyal, then they could be playing you along. Could you trust them to protect you? Most importantly heros have to put others before themselves. Being a hero requires an individual to possess bravery, kindness, and selflessness. These characteristics are noble qualities people admire. Bravery: Being brave can show a great personality in a hero because it shows the hero is bold, and wants to do things people are not capable of doing. Courage: A hero that has courage means that they are determined to do something, and they stick to it.

Everyone has the chance to be a hero at anytime during their lives. It's their actions and what they do that could lead them to becoming a Hero. They could battle for righteousness, honesty, or justice against forces of evil. Whether they are a hero in a book or in our society they have the qualities that make him or her the proper person to reach his or her goal. Everyone has their own opinion on what qualities a hero should have. A hero should be someone who is humble, who does not help others for publicity but because that is what their heart desires. There are many types of heroes, they come in all shapes, sizes, genders and race. Heroes should be someone who has impacted the lives of others and is someone everyone admires.

The typical stereotype of a hero, is a person that has dashing looks, and goes around with muscles larger than the size of their head. It seems that any person who carries some sort of characteristic of a hero goes through varies trails in life. Whether if those trails are driving a man or women into something greater or realizing that they themselves are less than anyone else. A man or a women that tends to lean on situation in life can show themselves to be a hero because it shows their inner being and true self. A hero should also be selfless. He or she should be doing things for others, rather than for his or her own selfish desires. For example, while Goku was dead, his son Gohan was fighting someone who was trying to destroy millions of people.

A hero is not always defined by their actions but how they affect in the face of peril. They are taught to lead over people and be an exemplary example. A hero doesn’t know fear from selflessness and will put another person’s life ahead of their own.

“Loyalty and devotion lead to bravery. Bravery leads to the spirit of self- sacrifice. The spirit of self- sacrifice creates trust in the power of love,” (Morihei Ueshiba). This quote goes to show the steps in which it takes to qualify as a rightful hero. Therefore, a hero is someone who is self- sacrificing and courageousness, sets an example, and is never selfish or cowardly.
