I recently learnt more about basketball. Apparently, it was invented by a Canadian for the YMCA in order to motivate teenagers and young adult's in to healthy living, team work, and passion. It was too cold in Massachusetts for a lot of outdoor sports and the intent was to give the young men an indoor sport. It seems to me then that you got the exact lessons that James Naismith, the original inventor, intended. Personally, I support sports because of these lessons and the added element of fun.
A Canadian friend of mine moved to Turkey and married a Muslim man a few years ago. When we compared the differences between the countries, heavily influenced by religious upbringing, fasting on Ramadan was one we discussed at length. I was raised
King of the Court: Bill Russell and the Basketball Revolution brings a fresh perspective to the life of one of the National Basketball Association’s most iconic and prominent players of all time. Bill Russell is known for his tenacious and innovative style of basketball play, but rarely does his background get much attention. Aram Goudsouzian takes a detailed look into the life of 6’10” Bill Russell, making note of not only his authority on the court, but also his background, culture, and attitude off the court.
James Naismith was just 30 working as an athletic coordinator for the University of Kansas when he was told that he had 30 days to invent a game for the soccer and football players to play and stay fit during the winter. The game couldn't contain as much physical contact as football and soccer because the coaches did not want their players getting injured before the season started. ‘The invention of basketball was not an accident. It was developed to meet a need. Those boys simply would not play 'Drop the Handkerchief.’ And that is how one of the greatest games came to life.
Sports had been primarily comprised of events that were viewed and played outdoors. A need for an indoor sport that also promoted the physical benefits of sport became evident. James Naismith was chosen to come up with the sport. He came up with the sport of basketball. Naismith along with other fellow Christians felt sports were important to the Christian faith.
James Naismith is the inventor of basketball in the year of 1891 at the age of 30. When doing this he used a peach basket as the rim and after doing this founded the university of Kansas basketball program. He was born in Canada, where he studied physical education at McGill University at Montreal before moving to the United States. After he founded the Kansas City Jayhawks basketball team, he seven years later decided to be the coach of the team. While coaching he had the honor of coaching phog Allen, who then became coach after Naismith and coached for 39 seasons, creating a great coaching tree in the Jayhawks system. And actually quick fact is that is that Naismith is still the only coach in the Jayhawks despite coaching his final season in 1907 is the only coach in Kansas City Jayhawks men’s basketball to end a season with a losing record. Soon after he created basketball and he formed a team with the Jayhawks basketball just blew up, all over it was becoming a something big. In June 1946 something

The game of basketball has an interesting origin. Dr.Naismith , an instructor in a college in America was thinking of a game that could be played indoors during winter months. He hit upon the novel idea of playing a game with the ball and two baskets nailed to the opposite walls of a gymnasium. In order to score a goal, a team had to throw the ball into the basket of the rival team. Initially, whenever a goal was scored, the ball had to be retieved by climbing on the baskets. In the beginning, the number of players in the team also happened to be unwidely. With the passage of time, the game became highly popular and specific rules were laided down. These rules have since undergone many changes. Basketball today is a high-speed ball game and it is one of the highly popular games in America. The students of the college where the game has been originated, took it to the other parts of the
Do you spend more time on your phone, or on the court playing basketball? In today's day and age, the majority of adults and kids would have answered their phone. Before today's day and age, kids would play outside as their main source of entertainment. In modern day society all kids will do is stay inside and play video games and have no form of physical activity. Although sports do have their ups and downs I guarantee that you will see that the positives of playing sports outweigh the bad.
4. The ball must be held in or between the hands. The arms or body must not be
Have you ever had an interest in how something was invented? An interest in how your favorite activity or hobby came about? Ever since I was introduced to sports and how competitive it was, I became hooked. I enjoy playing football, basketball, and baseball. Of the three main sports that I play, basketball seems to be my favorite. It challenges endurance, speed, accuracy, agility, and strength. I feel guilty not knowing who created the game that takes up most of my free-time. It is time for me to learn about the inventor and the games past.
“Tommy wake up Gage and Henry just pulled up and you have practice in 40 minutes” mother said.
There is no such sport more convenient or accessible than basketball. It is fun, practical, and affordable. It's also a common and healthy alternative to electronic entertainment. However, such a great sport could not come about by itself. There was an idea behind it. And behind that idea was a man, Dr. James Naismith.

Basketball are in Tamika Catchings family DNA, basketball genes were passed from her parents to her and her siblings Kenyon and Tauja. Although, they had lucky genes that blessed them with athleticism and height, Tamika as a young girl, knew basketball was going to be her game not because of the genes. Tamika and her sister Tauja often played each other in a competitive one versus one match in their driveway, which resulted in them yelling, screaming, and taunting each other. And, eventually, It may even have got to the point, where their dad would shout, “ That’s enough!” Then, her dad would take the ball away, but that didn’t stop Tamika, she’d still stay outside and continue to shoot and dribble with an imaginary basketball. Tamika was already “different” from the rest and her differences made her stand out. However, her differences weren’t always positive in others eyes. For example, Tamika wore glasses and she wore hearing aids because she had a hearing disorder, so kids at her school called her big box hearing aids. In addition, her hearing disorder affected the way she talked and she had speech problems. Tamika was set apart by other kids for how she looked and the way she talked, her struggle with the speech got to the point where they put her in speech therapy class, which caused more attention to her since she was pulled out of class in front of everybody. Tamika just wanted to fit in, so after trudging home from school, sobbing, she threw her hearing aids into an
Not all religions around the world practice fasting. The Islamic Region is not the only religion who does this. Christianism, Catholicism, and Buddhism also follows this tradition. They all do fasting their own ways like what time of the year do they do it and their reasons behind fasting. All Muslims fast together during the holy month of Ramadan which changes months every year. With different months, it can cause new challenges for them. The cooler months are usually the easiest to do fasting since it is not extremely hot out. These fast happen from sunrise to sunset so any time after sunset you may eat and drink anything you want. People need to have the physical and mental strength to fast since you are not drinking or eating for multiple hours at a time. Fasting can also help holster charity because, you are learning about empathy for the less fortunate.
