Jeb Bush, Do Not Judge by the Bush Cover
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Jeb Bush is running for president? You probably think another Bush for president, again. You probably think about Operation Desert Storm, under George H.W. Bush, or the collapse over our economy at the end of George W. Bush second term. This is not how you need to think though. You do not need to allow all the wrong decisions you think either of the former Bush presidents made to form your opinion of Jeb. Let us start it off with some basics. John Ellis “Jeb” Bush was born on February 11, 1953, which would make him 62 years old. He was born to former First Lady Barbra and former President George H.W. Bush in Houston, Texas, where he was also raised. He had one brother former President George W. Bush. Jeb ended up going to the University of Texas, majoring in Latin American Affairs, shortly after he married Columba Garnica Gallo, an immigrant from Mexico. They would have 3 children, George, Noelle, and Jeb Jr.
Before Jeb Bush started his political career, he was just a normal, hardworking American citizen. He started at an entry level position in the international division of Texas Commerce Bank. Later, when moving to Miami, Florida in 1980, he acquired a job at The Codina Group to invest in real estate. He would quickly move up the ranks to become partners with Codina and made the business into one of Florida’s leading real estate companies. He introduced his “A+ Plan” which would put a grade on schools which would force standards to be higher for students. This really helped reading scores in the public schools. Reading scores jumped 11-points on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. This was an enormous jump compared to the 2.5-point jump nationally. Also, Jeb Bush allowed students, in failing public school districts, school vouchers to allow children to go to higher graded schools. In addition to that, he pushed for many different scholarships to become available, especially to the poor and disabled. The educational system is one thing Jeb plans on pushing hard to make sure it succeeds, if he becomes president. He believes that this next generations education is key to keeping America
