After this Huck spent all his energy on stealing Jim from the Phelps family, and he did not even feel guilty about it. At the beginning of the novel, Huck believed that slavery was right and that it was not immoral to support slavery. By the end of the novel, Huck had become truly moral because he realized that everyone was just human. Jim's presence in this novel and in Huck's adventure allowed Huck to achieve this great moral growth, It was through Jim that
During this time period, runaway slaves were very easy to spot and were captured by slave hunters. Jim was very brave and held a lot of hope by traveling down the Mississippi River with Huck. Jim takes on the role as a father figure towards Huck when they are on their expedition. In the novel, Huck and Jim pass many groups of slave hunters and have to come up with several excuses as to why they shouldn't capture Jim: such as having the pox, painting him blue, and many other bizarre cases. "He's sick-and so is mam and Mary Ann." (93). In chapter thirteen, Huck lies to the slave hunters along the river and tells them that Jim has the smallpox, which drives the men away because they don't want to catch the disease. "I do believe he cared just as much for his people as white folks does for their'n." (153). Jim becomes frightened and runs away from Mrs. Watson. After Jim runs away from Mrs. Watson, Jim becomes a runaway slave. Jims journey with Huck to freedom commenced with only the fear of being caught as a runaway slave. Later in the journey, Jim starts to crave freedom from slavery. Twain states , "Jim said it made him all over trebly and feverish to be so close to freedom" (97). Jim's happiness is also expressed as they’re getting closer and closer to Cairo, as Huck describes more, "Jim was fidgeting up and down past me. We neither of us could keep still. Every time he danced around and says, "Dah's Cairo!" (97) Jim's happiness for freedom is obvious. The only way Jim can attain his happiness is through freedom.
In the war, it often thought that soldiers, go to a country to keep peace in that part of the world. Unfortunately that is not always the case;during these tours ,soldiers die everyday from cultural violence, and misguided information by their superiors and in this story that has occurred. David Newhard was a very brave man who fought in the Vietnam war. Imagine if you were nineteen years old, never involved in the military, and enlisted in the army so you would not be drafted. This was the path that David chose to take in his military career. At the time, he only received $230 a month as income in Vietnam. According to him, he thought that this was a lot of money. Soldiers went over knowing they had to serve for 365 days. This meant that they knew when they could return home. However, David got to come home a little early, and the guy who replaced him was killed two weeks later! If he would have stayed, David could have been the guy who ended up being killed. Human minds cannot grasp the concept of war and all of the horrors that come along with it.
The main message Jeff Nixa is sending to the reader is that we can judge a book by its cover. People who judge other people, or in this case judging a neighborhood by its appearance and crime statistics never know the people who live there. There are good hearted people how just happen to live in a neighborhood that is considered by most people outside the neighborhood as being an undesirable place to live.

The plan that Tom had was ridiculous because they could just walk in and take Jim away. Huck tried to point that out to Tom but, as stubborn as Tom is, they did Tom’s plan. A while later, they finally got Jim
Similar to Christ, Jim sacrifices his freedom for others without consideration of what could come of him. Even when he has the chance to escape to freedom on his own while Huck is with the Grangerfords, he sacrifices his chance and he “struck out for [the] woods to wait” (Twain 84) in order to stay with Huck. As a repercussion, he later on becomes enslaved and then escapes, going through all that trouble just to be with Huck. During that escape, with his
