John Calvin's Argumentative Analysis

Satisfactory Essays

Lack of support for the theory largely comes from the fact that it relies too much on reasoning. Aristotle assumes all human's desire to be good-he regards their capability to reason highly. He assumes that the weakening of their will causes the person to be bad or "not pious." John Calvin argues differently: he believes that humans are natural sinners and that they cannot be trusted to make good decisions. Thus, the relativist theories are flawed since, in a world with no laws or moral standards, there would be no reason to be virtuous.
