Scouts believed that he wasn’t extremely fast, not tall enough, and not a primetime jumper. Bird proved scouts and critics all over the world wrong due to his extreme dedication to the game. He shot five-hundred free throws on a daily basis because he knew that if he committed to becoming great, he would indeed do so. Bird spent hours upon hours studying the finer details of the game. To become a good rebounder, he learned all he could about how the ball would deflect off of the backboard, studying every angle possible until he mastered the art of the rebound (“Larry Bird,” 3). Larry never thought that he was skilled enough, so he would use every off-season to work through his weaknesses and strengthen his strengths. Even though he rapidly established himself as an NBA superstar, he always hustled for loose balls, played rugged defense, and dominated inside the paint (under the hoop). Most big time NBA players are remembered solely for their offensive play, but not Larry Bird. Larry described his work ethic in one of his most famous quotes, “Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds” (“Larry Bird”) Bird was truly an inspiration to all, without hardly any naturally given talents, he was able to prove to the entire world that a little bit of practice can go a long way. For most young players, playing in the NBA is a dream. For a lot of people, they only see and judge from the outside looking in. They have no idea the body of work that players put together throughout the years just to get to the NBA. That obsessive quality is what made players such as Kobe Bryant, and Micheal Jordan great. Before Jordan, and Bryant was known as The Black Mamba, and Air Jordan they were young players in the NBA going through the pitfalls, and growing pains of making it first as a rotation player, then as one of the league main attractions. For some young players, the NBA lifestyle is too much to handle while others come out of college prepared to embrace the rapid NBA lifestyle, some struggle to maintain their position in the league.

John Wall was born on September 6, 1990 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He currently plays for the Washington Wizards. He was chosen first overall in the 2010 NBA draft by the Wizards after playing one year at the University of Kentucky. He plays as a point guard and is a two-time NBA All-Star. On April 7, 2010, Wall announced that he would quit his final three seasons of college eligibility and enter the 2010 NBA draft, where he was expected to be the first pick for the Washington Wizards.

If you don’t got a good IQ you will probably struggle on the court. Making your layups is the only thing you should not miss in a game because it’s the easiest shot in the game of basketball. Taking shots behind or in front of the three point line is good but shooting threes is not that good. Making your free throws is the best because its giving a free shot with no one in front of you.
