The greats in the game of basketball are a hard thing to argue. The best today is easy to tell; they are the players that stand out game by game. They have distinguishable traits that make them the greats of today. Some of those traits can be found in their per 36 Minutes stats. Some players don’t play as much as other players, that is why they have made the per 36 minutes stats. Some players play 42 out of 48 minutes; however, some only play 30 out of 48. The per 36 minutes stats have been made to even out the playing field to see how well a player would play if they played only 36 minutes. LeBron James is, hands down, the best player to play in the last 10 years. He has averaged 30 points per game, twice in his career. Hitting thirty points per game in your career is a huge milestone only achieved by the greats, which he has done twice. Also he is ranked eleventh in all time scoring with 26,833 points (Statista, 2016). Also LeBron James is an amazing rebounder, he has 7,067 Rebounds (Basketball-Reference, 2016). For comparison, there is Ben Wallace one of the greatest rebounders of all time. He has in his 9 seasons with the Pistons 7,264 rebounds. On top of all that, LeBron James is also a great assister. LeBron James on average for all of his seasons has 6.9 assists per game. For a small forward that is great. He is a threat on ball by attacking the rim, and shooting. That’s not all, he can also dish it out to a good shooter in which they can score. On top of all of that he can get into peoples heads. Most of the greats were also great trash talkers. They do this because if they can make their opponent mad, then they can get them to react to their trash talking. Their reaction would be with forced play.
