This injury is usually seen in professional baseball pitchers because of the daily repetitive throwing and because of violent motions from throwing a baseball. Blind Willie Johnson was born in a town south of Waco near Temple, TX, around the year 1902. Unfortunately, his mother died when he was a baby, and his father married another woman. One day when Willie was about seven years old his father and stepmother got into a fight and his stepmother threw lye water. She tried to aim for Willies father but she hit Willie therefore blinding him. As Willie got older he started to earn money by playing the guitar. When he played the guitar, he did not play with a bottleneck, he played with a pocket knife. Willie often played in an open D tuning, choosing single-note melodies, while using his strumming and sliding a bass line with his thumb. Even with his talents he did not want to be a blues player.

What is an athlete? An athlete is someone who strives for first place and works hard to get there. There has been many controversies over whether or not NASCAR drivers are considered athletes or not. However, NASCAR drivers are considered athletes. Take five time championship winner Jimmy Johnson for example. Jimmy Johnson is an athlete because he practices as often as he can and he participates in a highly competitive and challenging sport.

Jackie Robison was the first African- American person to play in the Major League of Baseball in the United States. Jackie Robison was the wake up call of the controversy in American Baseball history. Robison was a hero to many, the one man who stood up to play in the major league, were it was then “a game for white mans only,” according to many. He was constantly receiving threats, been yelled at, throw things at and most importantly constant racism towards him. He became a legacy, not only in baseball, but also in the American life. He fought his civil rights, where he confronted and face others who had nothing but hatred.

American folktales are something many of us grew up hearing mom or dad read before bed. Johnny Appleseed is a legendary hero of many of these stories, and with good reason. Based on a man named John Chapman, an American pioneer, who wore a pan as a hat and traveled to spread apple trees and compassion to the early Westerners. His vision was to sate hunger issues with blossoming apple trees abounding. In 1947, Florida State University named itself the Seminoles. They did this in order to show the strength of and the pride in the Seminole heritage of Florida. Contributions of a lesser known African American, John Horse, helped to define the Seminole people as the “unconquered people” that they are so celebrated for in Florida today.

On May 26, 1949 a country music icon was born, but no one knew at the time. Hank Williams Jr, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to a loving, country family. Hank Williams Jr, dad is Hank Williams Sr, who was also a country singer but died at a very young age. Hank followed behind his dad and looked up to him, so he became a country singer. He began singing at a young age, his dad died when he was four and he started singing at the age of eight years old. He pursued his country singing at a young age and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry singing one of his dad’s hit songs.

Jasper Johns was born on May 15, 1930 in Augusta ,Georgia. In the middle of the Great Depression and parents names are Jean Riley Johns and Jasper Johns.Jasper grew up in Rual South Carolina and died at the age 86.

Granted that his artists left him, there was one artists that stayed. Her name was Lillian Bounds and married Walt on July 13, 1925. They had one child named Diane Marie (December 8th,1933) and adopted another named Sharon Mae in 1937 (Stewart 43 & 61). Walt needed a new character that was better than Oswald, so with the help of Lillian they created Mickey Mouse. No one would buy Walt’s cartoons of Mickey, but Walt had an idea of adding sound to his cartoons to make them more exciting. Steamboat Willie was the first cartoon with combined with sound and it was a hit! “Steamboat Willie was by far the best sound cartoon of its time” (Stewart 48). Walt wanted to make a animated movie that would be as long as the cartoons that are played

Slash is the best guitarist of all time. Saul Hudson, better known as Slash was born July 23, 1965 in Hampstead, United Kingdom. Slash grew up in Los Angeles and learned to play guitar as a teenager. His mother is African American, and his father is British. Saul got the nickname “Slash” from a family friend because he could never stop moving around. He lived with his father and grandparents in Stoke-on-Trent until the age of 5 which is just south of Manchester. Then him and his father joined his mom in Los Angeles. Eventually his parents become divorced and slash falls into some bad habits. He picked up guitar at the age of 14 and practiced nonstop.
